    Barcelona. Barcelona is in Spain, not Italy. The Spanish Steps, despite their name are actually located in Rome, not Spain.

What is Italy's biggest river?
    River Po. The River Po is 652km long. It flows from the Alps, along Italy's western border and then flows into the Adriatic Sea.

Which of the following was a famous Italian composer?
    Vivaldi. Mozart, Beethoven and Handel are not Italian. Vivaldi was a Baroque composer as was Corelli. As well as famous composers Italy also has many famous artists, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli.

In which order are the colours of the Italian flag, from left to right?
    Green, White and Red. The Italian flag is made up of three different coloured stripes. From left to right the first is green, then white and the red. All three stripes are identical in width.

Where in Europe is Italy situated?
    Southern Europe. On a map you can locate Italy by its unique shape of a boot. To the west of Italy is Spain. To the south of Italy is the small island of Malta. To the east of Italy are Greece and Romania and to the north of Italy are Germany and Austria.

Italy has a monarchy.
    False. Italy used to have a monarchy once but it doesn't any more. Italy is now a democratic republic and has a President. The last Italian King was called Umberto II. He served as the King of Italy from May 9th 1946 to June 12th 1946. The Italian President, called Giorgio Napolitano came into office on May 15th 2006.

In the north, Italy borders four countries. What are they?
    France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. Holland, Germany, Croatia and Belgium are all near Italy, but do not actually border Italy.

In 1348, what disease killed a third of Italy's population?
    Plague. The victims of the plague often died from four to seven days after they became infected.

How many islands does Lake Garda have?
    Five. Lake Garda is located in Northern Italy. It has a maximum length of 51.9km, a maximum width of 16.7km and a maximum depth of 346m. The largest of the five islands is called Isola del Garda. The next largest is called Isola dei Conigli. The final three smaller ones are called Isola dell'Olivo, Isola di Sogno and Isola di Trimelone.
