Fun Trivia: ' : 'Star Trek' - Ships

Special Sub-Topic: Federation Starfleet - The Ship Classes

What is the class of Jonathan Archer's Enterprise NX-01?

NX class. The class of the Enterprise NX-01 is mentioned twice in the episode "Fortunate Son" - first by Travis Mayweather and then by Captain Archer. The Siron class is a Vulcan vessel, but I made up the other two myself, just to throw you off, heh heh heh...

Which of the following pairs of classes are the most similar to each other?
Miranda and Soyuz. The Soyuz class (such as the USS Bozeman, in the Next Generation episode "Cause and Effect") can be thought of as merely a refit Miranda class.

Which class of starship has the greatest number of warp nacelles?
Prometheus class. The Prometheus class has six warp nacelles - two for each of its three sections, although only four of them are visible when the ship is intact. The Constellation class has four nacelles, the Niagara class has three, and the Oberth class has two.

The alternate future Olympic class vessel (such as the USS Pasteur shown in the Next Generation episode "All Good Things...") shares similar design elements to which early starship class?
Daedalus Class. It has a spherical "saucer" section to the Daedalus class - a ship which has never actually appeared in an episode as a ship. It appears as a model in Captain Sisko's office on Deep Space Nine, but otherwise it has merely been spoken about. Examples of Daedalus class ships are the USS Horizon, the USS Essex and the USS Archon.

Which of the following classes of ships made its sole Star Trek screen appearance as wreckage following the Battle of Wolf 359 in the Next Generation "Best of Both Worlds"?
Freedom Class. The Akira and Norway classes made their first appearances fighting the Borg in the movie "Star Trek: First Contact", and as I've mentioned before, the Daedalus class has made no screen appearances to date. The Freedom class (and also the Niagara class) makes its sole appearance as wreckage. It has one warp nacelle.

Some fans don't like how the Enterprise NX-01 looks - it seems to be too futuristic. Which 24th century ship class does it resemble?
Akira class. They do look pretty similar - have a look some time.

Each of the following are the names of Constitution class ships. Which name has NOT been seen since as a vessel of a different class?
USS Republic NCC-1371. The USS Excalibur appears in the "TNG" episode "Redemption" as an Ambassador class ship, registry number NCC-26517, and the USS Hood and the USS Intrepid reappear as Excelsior class ships. The Hood appears in the episode "Tin Man", among others, and has registry number NCC-42295. The Potemkin appears in "Ethics", and has registry number NCC-18253. Other names of Constitution class vessels which show up again on other classes include the USS Defiant, the USS Constellation, and of course the USS Enterprise.

What class of ship is Captain Scott's USS Jenolen NCC-2010?
Sydney class. As seen in the "TNG" episode "Relics".

And what about the Hansen's ship, the SS Raven NAR-32450?
It is never stated. As seen in the Voyager episode "The Raven".

What class of ship is Will Riker's first posting, the USS Pegasus NCC-53847, as seen in "The Pegasus"?
Oberth class. The Pegasus was equipped with an illegal interphase cloaking device, causing it to become embedded within an asteroid.

Which of the following classes is the longest from stem to stern?
Sovereign class. The Sovereign class is the longest vessel in Starfleet - its length is given by Captain Picard as being 685 meters in "First Contact". The next shortest from the options I gave is the Excelsior class, then Intrepid class, then Defiant class.

Is a ship of the Constitution class capable of separating its saucer section from its engineering hull?
    y. They were capable of it, they just never actually did it on screen.

What class of ship is Admiral Ross's flagship, the USS Bellerophon NCC-74705?
Intrepid class. As seen in the Deep Space Nine episode "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges".

Which class cruises at the highest warp factor?
Sovereign class. Thanks to its variable geometry warp nacelles, the Intrepid class can comfortably cruise at warp 9. The Defiant class's maximum cruising speed is warp 9.2. The Akira's maximum cruising speed is warp 9 and the Sovereign class's is 9.7.

Which of the following of Deep Space Nine's runabouts was never destroyed in the entire run of the series?
USS Rio Grande NCC-72963. In fact, the Rio Grande is the only runabout which was at the station in the first episode, and still there at the end. All of DS9's runabouts are named after Earth rivers. The USS Yukon was destroyed by the Defiant to prevent a changeling from destroying Bajor's sun. The USS Shenandoah was abandoned after being attacked by the Jem'hadar - its crew, Jake and Nog, transferred to the USS Valiant. The USS Yangtzee Kiang crashed on a penal colony in the Gamma Quadrant, killing Kai Opaka in the process.
