I am a very rare dog in Cuba. I was first bred in the 19th century, and continually bred through the 20th century. My hair is double coated and silky. What breed of dog am I?

    Havanese. The Havanese's original name, while being bred in Cuba, was the Bichon Havanais. When Cuban refugees started to come over to the US in the 1960's, they brought their dogs with them. A US breeder acquired some and began to breed them.

I was developed in Wales. I was used to herd cattle for farmers. I have large, erect ears and no tail. What breed of dog am I?
    Pembroke Welsh Corgi. There are actually two separate breeds of Welsh Corgi; the Pembroke and Cardigan. There have only been two separate breeds for about 70 years.

The Guinness Book of World Records once claimed me as the rarest breed in 1960. I am originally from France and am also called "Little Lion Dog." What breed of dog am I?
    Lowchen. The artist Goya has featured the Lowchen in some of his paintings. It was a popular dog in Italy, Spain, France, and Germany in the early 1500s.

I am a very small herding dog. I am a descendant of the Rough Collie and Icelandic Yakkin. I have relatively long hair. I most resemble a collie. What breed of dog am I?
    Shetland Sheepdog. The Shetland sheepdog was completely developed by 1700. Shelties are very gentle herders, especially when it comes to smaller stock.

I am a very large dog with relatively long hair. I am a true Canadian at heart. I am an excellent swimmer and rescuer. I am called the "St. Bernard of the Water." What breed of dog am I?
    Newfoundland. The "Newfie" won 2004's "Best in Show" at the Westminster Kennel Club show. He tied another Newfie for the heaviest dog to win, at a whopping 155lbs.

    Weimaraner. There are many questions as to the Weimaraner's origin. Some feel that it was albinism that took over some German Pointers, others feel that it is a descendant of a German dog called the Braken.

I have been found in Egyptian tombs and wall drawings as far back as 5000 yrs ago. I am most distinguishable by my inability to bark. What breed of dog am I?
    Basenji. The Basenji has also been called the Congo Dog. The Basenji was brought to Europe in 1934. The Basenji may not bark, but it does vocalize. Its sounds include, yodel, howl, growl, and crow.

I am a very fast and large dog. You would most likely see me chasing a fake rabbit with other dogs.
    Greyhound. The Greyhound has the ability to run up to 40 mph. They are recorded in history as early as 900 A.D.

I have very long ears and a droopy looking face. I have short legs and a long body. What breed of dog am I?
    Basset Hound. George Washington owned some basset hounds after the American Revolution. Lafayette gave the basset hounds to him as a gift.

I am a medium-sized dog with wrinkled skin and bristly short hair. What breed of dog am I?
    Shar-pei. The Shar-pei's short, bristly hair was bred into the dog, so that while fighting, the opponents were unable to grab a hold of the dog.
