    Shamshir. The shamshir was invented by the Turko-Mongol people but was brought to Persia by invasions. The Persians changed the sword slightly and the "shamshir", as commonly known today was born. This happened in the sixtenth century.

This sword was created by the Ottomans and was their primary sword. This sword features a slightly curved blade that starts off thin and gets bigger while you get to the top. This weapon was primarily used for a powerful downward hit. Which sword do I speak of?
    Kilij. The kilij was created by the Ottoman Turks in the 15th century and was also used by the Mamelukes in Egypt. It was aslo derived from the Turko-Mongol sabres that came to the Islamic World from further east.

    Falcata. The falcata was ideal for delivering death blows to Romans over their shields, because of its curved blade it is able to hit them squarely in the head despite those large shields.

    Flanged Mace. By the 15th century, armor had become so well developed that it was almost impenetrable by a sword cut or thrust. In response warriors started using heavier blunt force weapons such as the mace. Capable of crushing plate armor, the mace was a popular weapon with knights and foot soldiers alike. The 16th century German Mace has eight flanges.
