    A pair of eyeglasses. A pair of eyeglasses that belonged to Leopold were found near the scene of the crime; Leopold had inadvertently lost them. They instantly became suspects - and ultimately ended up in jail for a long time.

In the civil trial of O.J. Simpson, a pair of shoes turned out to be incriminating evidence against him. What type of shoes were they?
    Bruno Magli. Simpson received a favorable verdict in the criminal trial, but was done in (in part) due to some photographs that showed him wearing Bruno Magli shoes.

Al Capone committed countless violent crimes, but ended up in prison due to a non-violent offense. What was it?
    Income Tax evasion. Capone did't pay his taxes - that ultimately bought him a ticket to prison.

David Berkowitz, better known as the "Son of Sam" serial killer, was caught due to what seemingly insignificant item?
    Parking ticket. Berkowitz received a parking ticket (at an expired parking meter) at the site of one of his shootings. Investigators were able to track him down as a result.

Bruno Hauptman was executed for his role in the kidnapping of the son of Charles Lindbergh. What incriminating evidence was found at his home that established that Hauptman had some connection to the kidnapping?
    Some of the ransom money. Some of the ransom money was found (along with some lumber that was said to have been used in creating a ladder to reach the baby's bedroom).

What evidence was found at the home of Dr. Samuel Mudd after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln that conclusively established his contact with John Wilkes Booth?
    One of Booth's boots. Booth made his way to Dr. Mudd after breaking his leg in his dramatic leap from the balcony after shooting Lincoln. When his spur got entangled with a flag that had ben draped over the area where Lincoln was seated, Booth landed awkwardly on stage and broke his leg. Mudd had to cut the boot off of Booth's leg - but never discarded it.

The "Lady in Red" is famous for turning in John Dillinger. What was her motive?
    She wanted to avoid being deported. Anna Sage was an immigrant who was trying to get a reward - but also hoped to avoid being deported. She wasn't successful.

Abraham Zapruder caught the assassination of President John Kennedy on film. Who was Zapruder?
    Local businessman trying to capture the event on film. Zapruder was a local businessman who was merely trying to capture the president's visit on film. The rest is history.

What item was conspicuously missing from the bedroom of Marilyn Monroe, thus giving credibility to the idea that she may have been murdered?
    A drinking glass. Monroe was said to have taken too many sleeping pills - but there was no drinking glass found in her bedroom (where the pills were kept). That's interesting.

During the investigation into Watergate, the individual known as "deep throat" played a key role. Deep Throat was William Felt.
    t. The former FBI agent revealed his identity in May 2005, some 32 years later. It was confirmed by Woodward and Bernstein.
