Fun Trivia: P : Players - Tough 10

Special Sub-Topic: MAN of the Movies

Who was the MAN in the film "My Man Godfrey"?

William Powell. This 1936 film tells of a wealthy socialite (Carole Lombard) who finds a homeless drunk and brings him home to make him her butler. It's a cute comedy that was remade in 1957 with David Niven and June Allyson.

Who was "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"?
John Wayne. The 1962 production directed by John Ford shows the viewer that James Stewart is portrayed as the shooter. However, as the story unfolds, we find out that John Wayne's bullet actually killed Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin). Interesting western.

Who plays the MAN in "The Old Man And The Sea"?
Spencer Tracy. This 1958 Ernest Hemingway film is, for the most part, narrated by Tracy and it's wonderful to watch his facial expressions as he battles the sea by himself. It would be hard to find another actor to play this part as Tracy was a master of his trade.

Who played the MAN in the film "The Man In The Gray Flannel Suit"?
Gregory Peck. This 1956 film tells of a man in the throes of making a living in the corporate world after World War II. Keenan Wynn takes the part of one of his men under his command in the war and Frederic March takes the part of his boss.

Who is the MAN in the film "The Wrong Man"?
Henry Fonda. This 1956 Alfred Hitchcock film tells of a man falsely accused and convicted of a robbery with circumstantial evidence. It was a true story that takes place in Queens, New York. Anthony Quayle takes the part of the lawyer, Frank O'Conner. Vera Miles is Henry Fonda's wife in the film.

Who is the MAN in the film "The Man Of A Thousand Faces"?
James Cagney. This 1957 biography of Lon Chaney tells of the actor's trials and tribulations of dealing with his stardom as well as his connection with the mute and the deaf. Dorothy Malone portrays his wife and mother of their son, played by Roger Smith (who later starred in the hit TV series "77 Sunset Strip").

Was was "The Man Who Came To Dinner"?
Monty Woolley. This 1942 comedy is about a well-known obnoxious lecturer who comes to a small town, breaks his leg on the steps of the house he was supposed to reside in while he is lecturing and overstays his welcome. He takes over the household and the lives of the family. Bette Davis portrays his secretary.

Who is the MAN in the film "The Man With The Golden Arm"?
Frank Sinatra. This 1955 Otto Preminger film tells of a poker dealer and his bouts with drugs. Sinatra does a great acting job in this film that, in my opinion, should be shown more often. Perhaps there would be less drug addicts in the world.

Who was the MAN in the film "A Man For All Seasons"?
Paul Scofield. This 1966 production was the story of Thomas More during the reign of Henry VIII (Robert Shaw). A well-acted epic dealing with the laws of England and the laws of the Church.

Who played the title role in the 1932 production of "Tarzan, The Ape Man"?
Johnny Weissmuller. This film wasn't the first nor the last of the Tarzan films, but it does tell the story of how Tarzan met Jane, played by Maureen O'Sullivan. This particular title was remade in 1959 (Denny Miller as Tarzan) and again in 1981 (Miles O'Keefe and Bo Derek). John Derek directed the latter film (I guess as a vehicle for his wife).
