3. What is the name of the river boat Sheftu and Mara meet on?

Answer: Silver Beetle

Mara has been chosen to work for Lord Nahereh, who is very high on the list of Hatshepsut's friends. Mara's job is to be a translator for a princess coming to marry Thutmose. By doing this, Mara will be able to get into Thutmose's castle and find out information.
4. What is the name of the princess Mara is translator for?

Answer: Inanni

Inanni is a Canaanite princess who misses her brothers and her homeland.
5. What color are Mara's eyes?

Answer: Blue

Blue is a very rare eye color for anyone of Middle Eastern descent. Sheftu says her eyes are like "lotus flowers".
6. Sheftu believes that Hatshepsut should remain pharaoh.

Answer: False

Sheftu is a lord in Hatshepsut's court, but is working to restore Thutmose III.
7. What name does Sheftu use at the tavern?

Answer: Sashai

Since Sheftu is supposedly a close friend of the queen's, he cannot use his real name, so he invents one.
8. What piece of jewelry gives Mara away?

Answer: Ring

Mara had to look like an interpreter when she went to go meet Innani, so Sheftu gave her a ring to pay for everything she would need. Mara did not need that, however, because she already had plans that she made beforehand with her master. Foolishly, Mara wore it when she met with Sheftu, and he saw it. Sheftu then realizes that she must be double-dealing.
9. What is the name of the tavern Sheftu uses for his meetings?

Answer: The falcon

When the man Mara gives her information to, asks if she knows anything, she decides to give him something, so it looks like she is still on their side. Mara writes down "the inn of the owl", but the man knows that it is actually the inn of the falcon. He tells Mara that she must have read it wrongly.
10. Mara tells Hatshepsut that her Lord Sheftu is the one plotting against her.

Answer: False

Mara loves Sheftu, and so she takes beatings but still refuses to admit to Hatshepsut that she knows who the leader is. Instead, Sahure, the juggler at the Falcon, tells the queen that he knows who it is. A battle ensues, but Thutmose III's men win, and Sheftu becomes a count, and Mara his countess. Nothing like a happy ending!
