Right after Lord Voldemort killed Harry parents, Hagrid was sent to get Harry. Hagrid had Harry, and was prepared to leave somehow, but Sirius stopped them and gave Hagrid his motorbike. Since "the little tyke fell asleep over Bristol", we have to assume that Harry was awake. Since Harry was awake, he saw Sirius. Third, he saw Wormtail (aka Scabbers) in his first year on the Hogwarts Express when Ron had him. Fourth was Moony, Professor Lupin, who was Harry's teacher in the third year.
