    8 week. The truce would not last that long, but did allow Santa Anna to raise a larger army.

    Santa Anna. Anna had been retired, but he came back to power in Mexico. He would do this eleven different times in his career.

Another group of Americans were to lead an attack on Santa Fe and California, where did they leave from?
    Kansas. They left from Ft. Leavenworth.

Who led the group towards Santa Fe?
    Stephen Kearney. Kearney met very little resistance on his way toward California.

The U.S. had their first ever amphibious landing during the Mexican War, where did they land?
    Vera Cruz, Mexico. Scott would fight many intense smaller battles on his way to Mexico City.

What major Mexican city did General Winfield Scott capture after this amphibious landing?
    Mexico City. He also defeated Santa Anna here basically ending the war. There were some guerilla activities but no more major battles.

Which treaty ended the Mexican War?
    Guadalupe Hidalgo. Texas received most of the current southwestern U.S. with this treaty except for parts of Arizona and New Mexico which would come later in the Gadsden Purchase.

How much did the U.S. pay Mexico for the Mexican Cession of land after the war?
    $15 million. The official border of Texas also became the Rio Grande River and Mexican citizens within U.S. borders had one year to become U.S. citizens.
