Who were the top four in the men's 1500?
    Coe, Straub, Ovett, Busse. The first move of the race is by the East German Jurgen Straub at 800m, and makes it hard, Sebastian Coe takes him at 1350m and goes home for Gold. The other Briton Steve Ovett is drained from his 800m ealier in the games. Russian Nikolai Kirov and Agberto Guimaraes were 3rd and 4th in the 800m. 4th and 5th places in the 1500m went to Andreas Busse of East Germany and Italian Vittorio Fontanella. The other Briton Steve Cram came 8th, but went on to win the Silver behind Coe in the Los Angeles games.

The winner Miruts Yifter, missed the start in the Munich Olympic 5000m. Kotu came 4th in the 10,000m. The Russian Fedotkin finished 8th, the other four mentioned are Ethiopian.

    0. David Black, Bernie Ford and Ian Thompson all dropped out between 25km and 35km, in a race won by East German Waldemar Cierpinski, who had also won in Montreal. All three Russians however finished in the top five.

    Men's Triple Jump. High Jump 2.36 by East German Gerd Wessig and the Pole Vault 5.78 by Wladyslaw Kozakiewicz of Poland were both world records. Lutz Dombrowski (8.54) won the Long Jump for East Germany - only American Bob Beamon's World record was further. Jack Uudmae (17.35) won the Triple Jump in a personal best, beating fellow Soviet and European record holder Viktor Saneyev into second, this denied the Georgian his forth gold medal.

    Anatoli Bondarchuk. Sedykh won with his first throw from Litvinov. Maris coached javelin champion Dainis Kula, and Malishev coached Tatyana Kazankina the women's 1500m Gold medallist. All are Russians

    East German. Marita Koch was born in Wismar and was a medical student.

Who came fourth in the women's 100m?
    Linda Haglund. East German Auerswald was 3rd, Britian Hunte 8th and the American Hightower was probably the best of the boycotters in her event the 100m Hurdles. Linda Haglund was a Swede in a race won by Russian Lyudmila Kondratyeva.

In the woman's High Jump final, how many failures did winner Sara Simeoni have?
    4. Once at her winning height of 1.97 and three times at 2.02. Polish women Urszula Kielan knocked the bar off three times to the East German Jutta Kirst's 7 times, which gave Kielan the Silver with 1.94

Discus winner Evelin Jahl of East Germany did not produce a single foul in competition?
    True. She threw 8 times, none fouled. Silver medallist Maria Petkova of Bulgaria was the only other not to foul.
