Fun Trivia: M : Music Word Play

Special Sub-Topic: Musical Numbers

True or False? The number tons of Tennessee Ernie Ford's coal, multiplied by Eddie Cochran's steps to heaven equals how old I'll be when we rent a cottage on the Isle Of Wight.

    f. "16 Tons" times "Three Steps To Heaven" would be 48. "We can rent a cottage on the Isle Of Wight" when I'm 64 (The Beatles, from Sgt. Pepper)

The English version had Red Balloons, the German had Luftballons. Either way, subtract Paul Hardcastle's most famous n-n-number and what do you get?
    80. Nena's "99 Red Balloons" minus Paul Hardcastle's "N-n-n-nineteen", leaves 80.

The date in The Eurythmics album title, plus the number of ways out in the title of Puff Daddy's 1997 album.
1984. Puff Daddy said there was "No Way Out". So that just leaves 1984, from the book, the movie, the Orwell.

It's all Madness. The number who returned from Las Palmas, plus the number of Steps Beyond.
    8. Two Madness hits here. "The Return Of The Las Palmas 7" and "One Step Beyond". That would make 8.

The number "Of Us" in the opening track of the Beatles "Let It Be" times the engine capacity, in cubic inches, of one of the Beach Boys' very first cars
    818. "Two Of Us" times "(She's real fine my) 409". That would be 818.

What is the shortest amount of time that could separate Gary "US" Bonds' "timely" hit and the Who's all numerical one.
Two and a half hours. Gary sang of "A Quarter To Three". The Who didn't come along till 5.15. That's two and a half hours.

The number of miles the Proclaimers would walk BEFORE they walked any more, minus Eric Clapton's Ocean Boulevard address, divided by the number of coins in the famous fountain, equals the number of women on the original "B" side of Bill Haley's "Rock Around The Clock". True or False?
    t. The Proclaimers would walk 500 miles. Eric lived at number 461. That leaves 39. Divide by 3 (coins in the fountain) and you get 13 (women, and me the only man around). Of course, if we let the Scottish lads keep walking as they promise in the song, we could be way off).

Add up all three numbers in the old Chicago title and add how many candles the Crests sang about. Now subtract THAT answer from the number of the street where Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Song" is. You are left with the total of the numbers in Beatles "Revolution" titles. Aren't you?
    f. The Chicago song is "25 Or 6 To 4". That's 35. The Crests sang about "16 Candles", so that's 51. Subtract from the "59th. Street Bridge Song" and we're left with 8. The Beatle's song "Revolution" comes in three "forms" (although one is unrecognisable). They are Revolution, Revolution 1, and Revolution 9. 1 + 9 = 10. And that's not 8. Phew, better make the next one simpler huh?

Move over once, move over twice. The three-digit number explicitly given in the title of this Beatles song, divided by the number of Dalmatians (yeah, I know that's not really a song but you know how many, right?). Subtract the number of Roger Miller's engine. What sort of number is left?
Zero. This would be (One After) 909, divided by 101 (Dalmatians), making 9. Minus Roger's Engine #9, leaving zero.

A big number to finish up with. The number of hours from Tulsa that Gene Pitney was, times the number of flights Eddie Cochran had to climb. Now multiply by the number of light years that the Stones were away from home in their title.
960000. "24 Hours from Tulsa", times "20 Flight Rock", gives 480. 480 times "2000 Light Years From Home" makes 960,000.
