    Townsend's Inlet. Not may people realise that Townsend's Inlet, on the southern tip of Sea Isle City, is actually a separate town with its own zip code (and not just a section of Sea Isle). It is home to the U.S. Coast Guard Townsend Inlet Recreation Facility.

Which shore town is often called "Dry Town, USA" because no liquor is sold on its island?
    Ocean City. It keeps the antiquated "blue laws" in place in order to appeal to the family-vacationer. Most folks just bring in their own booze.

What is the last "mainland" town you go through before entering Ocean City?
    Somers Point. Perhaps one of its most celebrated residents in recent memory has been former Philadelphia Flyers hockey star, Rick Tocchet. It would be a great place to own a liquor store, with all the people about to enter "dry" Ocean City.

What is Brigantine Castle?
    A haunted house tourist attraction. In Brigantine near Atlantic City. In 1975 they converted the old Sea Horse Pier at 14th Street North into a VERY scary attraction. You might remember they used Bach's very recognizable Toccata and Fugue in D minor in TV their commercials.

    Turtle Crossing. You'll also see the signs in Avalon and Stone Harbor. From June to July the female diamond back turtles move from the saltmarshes to lay eggs on higher ground - usually by the side of the road. And here I thought it meant Flo & Eddie were playing the Springfield.

    The Crest Museum. It's in Wildwood Crest, and is dedicated to the history of Wildwood Crest, a town founded by Philip P. Baker.

What town is generally considered the North-South divide, separating the North Jersey beaches from the South Jersey beaches?
    Tom's River. It's really based on TV signals. Tom's River is as far as the New York City TV channels can be received coming south. So North Jersey and New York people will go as far south as allows and still be able to watch the Mets and Yankees on TV. While south of Tom's River, people prefer to watch the Phillies on Philadelphia television.

Which summer anthem was famously recorded by Philadelphia icon, Al Alberts?
    On The Way To Cape May. Known for his amatuer kids talent show, Al was a founding member of The Four Aces. They had many gold records and a few Academy Awards for songs like "Love is a Many Splendored Thing." Al and his wife Stella lived in Cape May for many years before moving to Florida. There was another version of "Cape May" recorded by Cozy Morley.

What was considered the golden age of Atlantic City?
    1880s - 1940s. It was THE coast town to vacation, outdrawing even New York's Coney Island. In the 1940s it was used as an army training area. After World War II, it began a slow decline. If you want to see how run down it became, you can either spend time in a library, or ... walk two blocks in any direction away from where the casinos are now.

You've decided to avoid the traffic on the Atlantic City Expressway and are taking the back roads to the shore. What WON'T you see as you drive through the town of Buena?
    The ocean. It's still MILES from the coast but they target the tourist dollars of those heading for the beaches,.

    The Dead Dog Saloon. A bit more laid back, usually with acoustic entertainment, the Dead Dog requires you wear a shirt with a collar.

Atlantic City, Wildwood and Ocean City might have boardwalks, but Sea Isle City has _______ ?
    The Promenade. Like a boardwalk (in terms of having souvenir shops, greasy food stands, and the constant danger of getting hit by a bicycle) but simple pavement instead of (frequently flammable) wooden boards.

Which was the first casino-hotel to open when legalized gambling came to Atlantic City?
    Resorts International. A relic from Atlantic City's glory days, Resorts was restored by Merv Griffen. Griffen and Donald Trump would become sworn enemies in the years that followed, as they competed for the gambling customers.

Which town uses the slogan, "cooler by a mile"?
    Avalon. Named after Avalon from King Arthur legend, the slogan comes from the fact that this barrier island projects seaward a mile further than its neighbors. Some speculate that is means the temperature is therefore not quite as scorching. Prior to that, their slogan was "The Jewel of the Jersey Coast."

If you're in Sea Isle and I say "Angelo's!" What am I talking about?
    Pizza. With fine dining in the dining room, Angelo's is somewhat of an institution. Strategically located bewteen the "OD" and "The Springfield" it gets a lot of take-out business from intoxicated slice seekers.

Moore's Inlet Club is in North Wildwood.
    t. Moore's Inlet is an intriguing place. Its open-air patio is staggeringly huge. As they serve well past 2 AM. It's amazing to see that many people still awake (or varying stages thereof).

What slogan was used by The Claridge Casino Hotel?
    Smaller is Friendlier!. Located between the Sands Casino and Bally's Park Place ... (Bally's also owns the Claridge the way) ... space was very restricted. With no room for expansion, the Claridge sought to present its smallness as a plus.

Who recorded the song, "Wildwood Days"?
    Bobby Rydell. Frankie Avalon would've been an interesting joice but not for the obvious conflict of interest.

What is the major North-South thoroughfare in Isle City?
    Landis Avenue. JFK Blvd is a short (but important) street leading into town (east-west) from the bridge. Landis Ave was named after the town's founder Charles K. Landis, who envisioned creating a Venice-like town, complete with canals to get around. If you've been there during a heaving downpour, it does show its Venice-like quality.

What long-time North Wildwood bar became "Jimmy's"?
    The Red Garter. And boy do we miss those banjo songs. For 15 years, the Red Garter was the home of the very poplar "Red Garter Band" who brought Dixieland to the Jersey Shore.

How will the name Charles Darrow always be linked with Atlantic City?
    Invented the Monopoly board game. Darrow decided to name the properties after the streets of Atlantic City. In 1972, in an effort to improve its image, the city was going to change the names of Baltic and Mediterranean Avenues. But a world-wide outcry from Monopoly enthusiasts put a halt to this.

Who recorded the song, "Atlantic City"?
    Bruce Springstein. More a lament of Atlantic City's decline than a celebration of its sun and fun (like other shore town tunes), The Boss (a NORTH Jersey shore boy) released this on the "Nebraska" album.

Who (or what) is the official mascot of Sea Isle City?
    Sara the Turtle. Rumors that the Dead Dog Saloon proposed having an actual dead dog as their mascot proved to be unsubstantiated.

You're trying to decide between going to the Rusty Nail, The Ugly Mug, Mayer's Tavern or The Whaler's Cove. Where are you?
    Cape May. Cape May is THE southernmost of South Jersey shore resorts. It's a bit more grown up than Wildwood (sometimes called "Childwood) but still has some great clubs and nightlife!

Which of these is a South Jersey shore newspaper?
    The Sand Paper. There's one Sandpaper based in Ocean City and another based in Beach Haven.
