Fun Trivia: M : Mixture: Networks

Special Sub-Topic: Name That CBS Drama

Ah, Miami. The sun, the beach, the crime. Lt. Horatio Caine and his ragtag group of CSIs dare to do the impossible. From decapitations to twisted kidnappers, these men and women will do whatever it takes to return justice to this city.

CSI: Miami. David Caruso portrays Lt. Caine, and his team consists of Emily Procter, Adam Rodriguez, Jonathan Togo, Rex Linn, Khandi Alexander, and Eva LaRue. The show has celebrated its 100th episode. You go, guys! Fun fact: Emily Procter wears a different shade of lipstick in every episode.

Wit and humor abound in this Washington, DC office. Leroy Jethro Gibbs leads his team of agents in a quest for justice. However, personal lives sometimes run amuck in your work world.
NCIS. Gibbs is played by Mark Harmon, and he is aided by Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, and David McCallum, and they are all bossed around by Lauren Holly. The show used to include Sasha Alexander as Kate Todd, but she got felled by a sniper bullet in the end of season 1. We miss her.

New York, New York. A Big Apple with big crime. Mac Taylor and his crack team of CSIs must enforce the law in a lawless city. As with any city, there are unique problems. I mean, you can't fall off the Empire State Building in Los Angeles!
CSI: NY. Gary Sinise heads up the team of Melina Kanakeredes, Carmine Giovinazzo, Anna Belknap, Hill Harper, Eddie Cahill, and Claire Forlani. Melina Kanakeredes's character, Det. Stella Bonasera's name came from Stella Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and Amerigo Bonasera in "The Godfather". Interesting combination, am I right?

Sin City. Las Vegas, Nevada. This is just the city you'd expect to be crime-ridden, and you would be right. Gil Grissom and his CSI team are up to their ears in obscure and bizarre cases day in, and day out. However, work sometimes cramps your personal and social style.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The original that spawned a franchise stars William Peterson, Marg Helgenberger, Jorja Fox, Gary Dourdan, George Eads, Robert David Hall, Louise Lombard, and Paul Guilfoyle. There was a scene filmed of Catherine (Marg) and Nick (George) making out, and it was supposed to air during the first season, but it was cut. Awkward.

"My name is Melinda Gordon. I'm married, I live in a small town, and I own an antiques store. I might be just like you. Except that from the time I was a little girl, I knew that I could talk to the dead. Earth bound spirits, my grandmother called them. They're stuck here because they have unfinished business with the living, and they come to me for help. In order to tell you my story, I have to tell you theirs."
Ghost Whisperer. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays our liason between the living and the dead, with her husband Jim (David Conrad) and best friend Delia (Camryn Manheim). Plus, there's our ever humorous professor Rick Payne (Jay Mohr). In the first season, Melinda had best friend Andrea (Aisha Tyler). However, Andrea was killed in the suspenseful season finale. Guess what? She came back as a ghost! What a surprise.

Annabeth Chase used to be a happily married mother of one who also balanced a tough job as a district attorney. Now, she is a widow who still holds down that difficult job. It's a good thing she has the support of her colleagues, otherwise this wouldn't be going so well.
Close to Home. Jennifer Finnigan plays the damaged Annabeth, with Kimberly Elise, David James Elliott, Jon Seda, and Cress Williams aiding her at the office. Annabeth's husband, Jack (Christian Kane), was struck and killed by a drunk driver in the first season finale. Heavens to Betsy, their two-year-old Hailey was not in the vehicle. Whew. The show bounced back from cancellation after its first season due to the fact that it is sandwiched between the hits "Ghost Whisperer" and "NUMB3RS".

Two brothers. One crime-ridden city. Don Eppes is a gung-ho FBI agent who works everyday to save Los Angeles. His brother Charlie is a professor of mathematics, who also aids in his brother's cases. Their two lives intersect in the most obscure ways.
NUMB3RS. Rob Morrow (Don) is helped by Alimi Ballard, Dylan Bruno and Diane Farr. David Krumholtz (Charlie) has friends Navi Rawat and Peter MacNicol and father Judd Hirsch. Diane Farr used to date Dylan Bruno's brother. Both arrived on set not knowing that the other had been hired.

The FBI Missing Persons Unit of New York City works every single day to bring missing people home to their loving families. Well, they're not always loving. Sometimes that's the reason the people run off.
Without a Trace. Anthony LaPaglia works alongside Poppy Montgomery, Eric Close, Enrique Murciano, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. This show celebrated its 100th with a Hurricane Katrina themed episode starring Eriq LaSalle. Eriq came back to the set and directed an episode.

Sebastian Stark is a hotshot defense attorney turned prosecutor due to a personal epiphany. Now led by DA Jessica Devlin and her team, Sebastian gives a whole new spin on the courtroom. And just when you thought it was safe.
Shark. James Woods plays "Shark", Jeri Ryan is Jessica, and Danielle Panabaker is Sebastian's daughter Julie. Woods credits "Shark" with revitalizing him after he lost his brother Michael to a heart attack.

CBS stands for Central Broadcasting Service.
    f. It stands for Columbia Broadcasting System. However, it has not been officially referred to as this since 1974. CBS is housed in a building called Black Rock, the "baby" of Dr. Frank Stanton, the president of the company for many years. The building was first occupied in 1965. Dr. Stanton, who passed away, was also responsible for the trademark Eye logo. Hope you enjoyed the quiz!
