    trumpet. Paul's first instrument was a trumpet. He claimed he could play "When The Saints Go Marching In" on it, but all witnesses said it sounded horrible. Paul traded his trumpet in for a guitar when he discovered it was impossible to play the trumpet and sing at the same time.
