What is the name of Sheila's sister?

    Libby. Libby is four years older than Sheila. She likes to dance, especially ballet. She also likes to sing.

What does Sheila line up so that her dad can find her in the apartment?
    her shoes. It is a game Sheila and her dad play. Sheila lines up her shoes pointing to the room where she is hiding. Then her dad comes and finds her. The first time they play in the book, Sheila is in her room, under the bed. Her dad looks in the dresser drawers to try and find her, which cause Sheila to giggle, so her dad finds her easily.

To what town do the Tubmans go for the summer?
    Tarrytown. They rent a house from the Egren family. At first Sheila is disappointed, because she'd wanted to go to Disneyland. Then she gets excited because she will have her own room and go to a special day camp. But when she finds out a dog comes with the house and she has to sleep in a boy's room, she wants to go home.

What is the name of the dog that comes with the house?
    Jennifer. Sheila is scared of dogs and runs from Jennifer whenever she can. Jennifer has a male dog friend that visits and they find out that Jennifer is going to have puppies. The Egrens write the Tubmans and promise them the pick of the litter for taking care of Jennifer.

What is the name of Sheila's new friend?
    Mouse Ellis. She is the Jr. Yo-Yo Champion of Tarrytown. She can do tricks like Shotgun and Around-the-World.

What did Sheila single-handedly put together for the day camp?
    newspaper. She wanted to show that she could do something better than her Tarrytown friends, but the newspaper was harder than she thought. She couldn't type well and had to handwrite the whole thing. She found the mimeograph machine hard to operate. The paper took all day every day for the whole week, so in the end, she gave away the responsibility of the paper to the winners of her contest.

What play did the camp put on?
    Peter Pan. Libby wanted to play the part of Wendy, but ended up as Captain Hook instead. Sheila and Mouse painted scenery and ended up on stage to hold up the arch to Never-Never Land. Sheila even spoke some of Wendy's lines for Mary Ann when she got stage fright.

What did Sheila and her friends make at their slumber party?
    Slam books. To make a Slam book, your friends write down stuff about you and they are supposed to tell the truth. The idea is not to know who wrote what. Sample statements would be about your "best feature", "worst feature", their "overall impressions" of you and things like that. Usually, your friends say things you don't want to hear. At Sheila's party, the girls all get into a fight because of the things they wrote about each other.

Does Sheila pass her swim test?
    y. Sheila has to swim across the whole pool in order to pass. She doesn't think she will pass, and she gets tired as she goes across. She doesn't want to let Marty down, because if she doesn't pass, he will have to give all the money back to Sheila's mom. Suddenly, she finds that she's done it and passed her test.

What is Sheila NOT afraid of?
    bikes. Sheila is also afraid of thunder and is not too crazy about horses. By the end, she overcomes her fear of the water and learns to swim. She also learns to like the idea of a little puppy named Jake.
