She unknowingly unmasked a real criminal in Mr Richardson (who was the manager at the bank that got robbed, and had helped from the inside).

Who wrote the column 'The Eye'?

Elmo. He wrote them so his dad's newspaper could become more popular. It was also 'living history' - Molly Beer ('old Molly') used to write the column 'The Eye' back in Elmo Zimmer I's time (Elmo's grandfather who used to run The Pen).
