    Southern Comfort. Released in 1981, Powers played Hardin, a National Guardsman on a training mission in the Louisiana swamps that goes terribly wrong. A bit of an homage to "Deliverance."

In this 1987 movie, he plays a drug dealer alongside Nick Nolte.
    Extreme Prejudice. Powers played Cash Bailey, a drug kingpin who was once the best friend of the sheriff, played by Nick Nolte.

This movie was about Russians parachuting into the heartland of America and the band of rebels that resist.
    Red Dawn. Powers co-starred as Col. Andy Taylor alongside Patrick Swayze, C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, Jennifer Grey and Charlie Sheen in this 1984 release.

He starred with Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones in this movie about an Army engineer and his mentally unstable wife.
    Blue Sky. In this 1994 movie, he played General Vince Johnson, who has an affair with Jessica Lange's character.

This movie was about Wyatt Earp and his brothers.
    Tombstone. In this 1993 movie, he played Curly Bill Brocius. This movie was far better than Kevin Costner's "Wyatt Earp," released the same year. Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holliday was outstanding.

Powers plays a cop who helps a college student who witnessed a killing.
    Rapid Fire. This movie, released in 1992, was Brandon Lee's next-to-last movie. Powers played Mace Ryan.

In this movie, a terrorist holds the vice president and an arena full of hockey fans hostage.
    Sudden Death. This movie, released in 1995, also starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. Powers played Joshua Foss, who held everyone hostage during Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks. The Penguins' minor-league franchise players played the Blackhawks.

In this 1985 movie, an engineer's son disappears into the Amazon jungle.
    The Emerald Forest. Based on a true story, Powers played Bill Markham, an engineer whose son is taken by a tribe in the Amazon and raised as one of their own.

An FBI agent is looking for the God's Hand killer.
    Frailty. This 2001 release also starred Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton. Powers played Agent Wesley Doyle.

In this 1980 TV movie, Powers played a charismatic leader of a cult.
    Guyana Tragedy: The Jim Jones Story. In his first major role, Powers played Jim Jones. He won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Special. He stunned the world when he showed up at the Award Ceremony in the middle of a Screen Actors Guild strike to accept.
