Q. From the beginning of "TNG", Q was publically arrogant when it came to humans. In "Encounter at Farpoint", Q even called humans a "savage child race."

Able to transport himself and others instantaneously.

Both. Trelane swept Sulu and Kirk to his planet, then he later took the entire Bridge crew to his drawing room. As for Q, well let's just say he did it so many times that it's pretty much common knowledge.

Utilized an external source for his power.

Trelane. When Kirk and Trelane held their pistol duel, Kirk shot the mirror, exposing the mechanism that was the source of Trelane's powers source behind it.

Was omnipotent.

Q. Trelane was definitely not omnipotent. His observations of Earth were from a distance, and those observations were of past centuries. He had failed to account for the elapsed time that would have taken place in the interim.

Able to create palatable food and drink.

Q. McCoy commented that water tasted 100 times as good as Trelane's brandy and that the food the Bridge crew were served tasted like sawdust. On the other hand, in "Hide and Q", Q treated Riker to a delicious glass of ice-cold lemonade.

Had a fascination with Earth history.

Both. Trelane considered Earth's history his specialty, as evidenced by the battle flags, dueling pistols, and the harpsichord (among other items) in his drawing room. So did Q, who, in "Hide and Q", dressed up the "game's" adversaries in Napoleonic uniforms. Later, in the "Voyager" episode "The Q and the Grey", Q took Capt. Janeway to the Q Continuum, which he illustrated as a battle in the U.S. Civil War.

Was really a child.

Trelane. Trelane was actually told to come home by his parents (voiced by James Doohan and Barbara Babcock)! This led Kirk to suggest Spock enter Trelane's species classification as "a small boy, and a very naughty one at that."

Able to hurtle the Enterprise/Enterprise-D great distances.

Q. In "Q Who", Q sent the Enterprise-D so far from Federation space, that it would have taken over 2-1/2 years at maximum warp to reach the nearest Starbase. The purpose of this "side trip" was to show what real danger lay ahead for Picard & Co. (Specifically, The Borg). As for Trelane, when the Enterprise initially tried to escape Gothos, the planet seemed to keep on appearing in front of the ship, despite all the attempts to evade it (And, the Enterprise was under its own power the whole time).

Killed at least one member of Starfleet.

Neither. Sorry, but there is no record of neither Q nor Trelane directly killing anyone who was a ship's crew member. But Q did commit acts that led (or could have led) to deaths among the Enterprise-D crew, like when The Borg carved out part of the ship's saucer section (18 deaths, "Q Who?"), or when he transported Picard's Bridge crew to Sherwood Forest with the warning that any deaths would be real (no casualties, "QPid").

Became an ad-hoc trial judge.

Both. Q's so-called "Trial of Humanity" started with "Encounter at Farpoint" and finally concluded with "All Good Things..." (i.e.: the entire run of "TNG"). The forum Q used was a mid-21st Century court, with drug-induced soldiers standing guard. Trelane, who was more interested at trying to discover his tempermental side, held trial over Kirk, who was charged with (and found guilty of) high treason (at least, according to Trelane).
