In 1993, it was certified 3x platinum, and again in 1995, it was certified 5x platinum. The album also includes two other popular R.E.M. hits entitled "Drive" and "Man on the Moon."

hang on. The video for this song won a total of 4 MTV video music awards in September of 1994. They include "Breakthrough Video," "Best Direction (Jake Scott)," "Best Editing (Pat Sheffield)," and "Best Cinematography."

everybody hurts sometimes. The video for this song was also, in September of 1994, nominated for MTV's "Video of the Year," "Best Group Video," and the "Viewer's Choice" awards.

sing along. In June of 1999, "Everybody Hurts" made MTV's "100 Greatest Videos Ever Made" list at #98. R.E.M.'s biggest hit single, "Losing My Religion," (another personal favorite of mine) made that list as well with a much higher placement at #13.
