Special Sub-Topic: "Real Me"
|The title of this episode is a reference to a song by which British band?|
The Who. Someone on the 'Buffy' production staff must be a Who fan. In the season four episode "Where the Wild Things Are," Giles performed a solo acoustic version of "Behind Blue Eyes" at the Espresso Pump.
|What is the first line spoken in this episode? |
"There is nothing but you.". The first scene in the episode is of Giles training Buffy. He actually said all of these things eventually. They seem to be progressing nicely with their training, until Dawn ruined everything.
|In the first scene after the teaser, the camera fades in on a mobile that Dawn has hung in her room. What kind of creatures are on it?|
fish. If you have sharp eyes, you can catch a glimpse of that mobile in later episodes as well. It may have been a nod to season two, when Angelus strung Willow's fish up on thread.
|Dawn has a poster in her room featuring which band? |
R.E.M.. Maybe she's a fan of the song "Imitation of Life." After all, an "imitation of life" is exactly what her Keyness turns out to be, as we find out later in the season.
|What kind of car is Giles' new convertible?|
BMW. Giles didn't like the automatic transmission. "I loathe this
sitting here, not contributing. No, it's not working out." Buffy: "Giles! Are you breaking up with your car?"
Giles: "Well it did seduce me, all red and sporty!"
Buffy: "Little two-door tramp."
|Buffy was supposed to take a class with Willow, but had to back out of it because of her new training schedule with Giles. What class does she drop? |
Drama. Greek Art is the class that Buffy had with Tara in "Triangle." In that episode, she mentioned that she had to do well in Greek Art because the only other class that fits into her schedule is Central American Geopolitics, which reminded her too much of Riley.
|What was the name of the dead owner of the magic shop?|
Mr. Bogarty. Tara knew Mr. Bogarty because she was a frequent visitor to the magic shop. DVD commentary on several episodes refer to 'Mr. Bogarty' being an inside nod to season two, when Angelus called the shop owner the "local boogity boogity man".
|Dawn and Tara were playing a game outside the magic shop while the other Scoobies investigated the murder. What were they playing?|
thumb wrestling. Tara: "They're gonna be a little while longer, doing the detective thing. Best non-Scoobies like you and me stay out of the way...Do you wanna thumb-wrestle?"
|Which board game does Anya NOT bring with her when she and Xander are babysitting Dawn?|
Sorry!. Anya obviously doesn't really get the concept of board games at first. "Look at this! Now I'm burdened with a husband and several tiny pink children, more cash than I can reasonably manage..." When Xander explains that all of that means she's winning, she wants to trade in the children for more cash.
|Willow said that Giles "doesn't understand about stuff." Why was that?|
because he's British. Tara mentioned sometimes feeling uncomfortable around the gang, and Willow wanted to know who was making her feel that way. She first assumed that it's Xander, and then she thinks that it's Giles. "It's 'cause he's British and doesn't understand about stuff." Tara simply says, "You guys all just have this really tight bond. It's hard to break into that. And I'm not even sure I want to."
|Harmony: "I'm not gonna make the same mistakes you did. I've been doing my homework, reading books and stuff." What does Spike suggest that she's been reading?
Evil For Dummies. Spike: "What, 'Evil for Dummies'? Look at you, all puffed up and mighty, thinking you're the new Big Bad."
|Who is the only member of Harmony's gang that DOESN'T vote to kill her?|
Brad. Earlier in the episode, Brad was described as "sire-whipped." His sire, of course, was Harmony, so he abstained.
|Finish Buffy's quote.
Harmony: "So, Slayer, at last we meet."
Buffy: "We've met, Harmony, ___ _______!"|
you half-wit. Buffy: "Harmony, when you tried to be head cheerleader, you were bad. When you tried to chair the homecoming committee, you were *really* bad. But when you try to be bad...you SUCK."
|Fill in Buffy's dialogue.
"...most magic shop owners in Sunnydale have the life expectancy of a _____ ___ drummer."|
Spinal Tap. Buffy was talking to Giles about whether he was up to the task of taking over the magic shop. "Have you ever run a store?" Giles insisted that he'd be fine. "I was a librarian for years. This is exactly the same, except people pay for the things they don't return."
|"They don't respect me. They pretend they do, but deep down they
think I'm nothing." Who said this?
Harmony. This was Harmony, whining to the captive Dawn. "I mean, I'm the one who put this group together. Me! But they treat me like I don't even matter. Do you have any idea what that feels like?"
Dawn: "A little."
