Special Sub-Topic: Royal Navy Losses In World War Two

I was a veteran Royal Sovereign class battleship. I was hit by three torpedoes in Scapa Flow on October 14, 1939. 833 men lost their lives. Who am I?

HMS Royal Oak. Torpedoed by the German U-47, the ship still lies at the bottom of Scapa Flow as a War Grave.

I was a King George V class Battleship. On December 10, 1941, I was off Kuantan, Malaya in the South China Sea, when I was hit by four torpedoes launched from Japanese Navy land-based aircraft. Who am I?
HMS Prince of Wales. The HMS Repulse met a similar fate the same day! Destroyers rescued 796 survivors.

I was escorting the ship in question two, and met a similar fate, but I was hit by five torpedoes. I was Battlecruiser and although I had a sister ship, we were actually quite different. Who am I?
HMS Repulse. Allied Destroyers rescued 1,285 survivors.

I along with the HMS Prince of Wales engaged the KMS Bismark and Prinz Eugen in the North Atlantic, west of Iceland in the Denmark Strait. After a brief fire fight, I exploded and broke in two. Who am I?
HMS Hood. Only three men were rescued out of 1,419.(The Bismarck was sunk three days later). The theory is that a shell from the Bismark hit the torpedoes lying on my deck. What ever the truth may be, I exploded and sank in moments:

I was an Erebus class Monitor and on February 22, 1941 I was in Benghazi harbour. German Ju 87 Divebombers attacked and damaged me. I was towed towards Alexandria but sank two days later. Who am I?
    HMS Terror.

I was part of the British Eastern Fleet and was returning to Trincomalee on April 9, 1942. A Japanese carrier attacked and sank me:
HMS Hermes. 90 Japanese carrier dive-bombers attacked. The HMS Hermes was 65 miles south of Trincomalee.

I was returning with the 'H' Force to Gibraltar after ferrying Hurricane fighters within flying range of Malta. On the November 13, 1941, I was hit by a single torpedo from the German U-81. I was towed, but only went 30 miles east of Gibraltar when I foundered and sank. Who am I?
HMS Ark Royal. One man was killed. The HMS Ark Royal is one of the most famous names in the history of the Royal Navy.

I took part in the famous Battle of the River Plate. Later, on March 1, 1942, while north west of Surabaya in the Java Sea, I was attacked by a Japanese cruiser force. I was hit by eight inch shells and torpedoes and sank. Who am I?
HMS Exeter. Damaged in the main Java Sea battle, the Exeter sailed with two destroyers from Surabaya to escape through the Sunda Strait. All three ships were lost.

I was a Australian Navy heavy cruiser, I was with a US cruiser force, covering US Marine landings on Guadalcanal in August 1942. I was sunk by torpedoes and eight inch gunfire from a Japanese cruiser force.
    HMAS Canberra.

On June 8, 1940, I was sailing with my two escort destoyers, HMS Acasta and HMS Ardent west of the Lofoten Islands in Norwegian Sea. I ran into the 'ugly' sisters, the KMS Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. Their 11 inch shells soon sank me. Who am I?
HMS Glorious. I was sailing from northern Norway at the end of the Allied evacuation. 1,207 men lost their lives, 40 men survived. My two escort destroyers 'Acasta' and 'Ardent' were also sunk.
