Fun Trivia: R : Rugby Mixed

Special Sub-Topic: Rugby Union Positions

We are usually the heaviest member of the team, and there are two of us, a "loosehead" and a "tighthead". What position am I?

Prop. The props wear 1 or 3 depending on which side of the scrum they are playing. The loosehead plays on the left side whereas the tighthead plays on the right side.

I am usually the player who throws the ball in at line-outs, and I also play a crucial part in winning scrums. What position am I?
Hooker. The hooker gets the name from scrums, where the principle job of the hooker is to hook the ball back to his/her own side with their foot. The hooker commonly wears #2 on their jersey.

We are usually the tallest two players on the team, and we usually jump in line-outs. We are also known in scrums as the engine room. Who are we?
Locks. The locks, or second rows, or engine rooms, wear #4 and 5 on the pitch.

At one time we were known as "wing - forwards". We are part of the scrum, and wear numbers 6 and 7. Who are we?
Flanker. The openside and blindside flankers do as their name suggests and are attached at the flanks of the scrum.

When naming me, people were incredibly unoriginal: I am called the ________ man (the number I am in the scrum)?
Eight. The 8-man is the eighth person in the scrum and binds at the very back. He/she is the final forward.

I am often the smallest players on the field, and sometimes known as a "half-back". I am also known as the scrum half. What number do I wear?
    9. The scrum-half feeds the ball into the scrum and then passes it out to the backs. He/she is usually responsible for distributing the ball.

I am sometimes known as a "first five eighth" and do a lot of kicking from hand. I wear #10. What position am I?
Fly-half. The fly-half recieves a lot of the ball from the scrum-half. He/she is often responsible for goal-kicking as well as their normal responsibilites.

We are often the biggest backs on the field, and responsible for some big hits. We wear #12 and #13, although a few players have not wanted to wear the "unlucky" #13. What position are we?
Centre. The centres are a very important part of any team, for if they aren't tackling their opponents will have a field day.

We are often the fastest players on the field, and when we do get the ball we try and fly down the sidelines to score. Some of the more recognizable players played our position. What are we?
Wings. Once the ball gets out to the winger, some of the more spectacular tries in rugby have been scored. While some wingers are small speedsters, others are big men who can hardly ever be tackled.

I am the last line of defence on a rugby field and often have to make one-on-one tackles in open field. I wear number 15 and am often seen behind everyone else. What am I?
Full-Back. The fullback has one of the hardest jobs; to try and tackle someone coming full-speed with tons of space on either side to run.
