|Jenna Boller, the main character, works at Gladstone Shoes, a company known for their quality. Mrs. Gladstone, the owner of Gladstone's, needs an assistant to drive her to all of Gladstone's locations throughout the summer to check up on how business is going. For this job, Mrs. Gladstone chooses Jenna. What is Mrs. Gladstone's first name? |
Madeline. Jenna is a newly licensed driver, so she hasn't had much experience driving her twelve year old Honda Civic. She is stunned when she sees Madeline's car, which she is driving for the summer - a Cadillac!
|The reason the owner chose Jenna to be her assistant is because she is, although young, an expert shoes saleswoman. She knows all the brands by heart and treats all the customers with lots of respect, somewhat like a (fictional) famous shoes salesman mentioned in the story. What was his name? |
Harry Bender. Unfortunately, Harry died near the end of the book. Everyone was very distraught by this, and his funeral was jam-packed full of people. Harry used to be an alcoholic, but he had been sober for 23 years and was currently trying to help other alcoholics.
|Before she left on her road trip, Jenna had to say good-bye to a lot of people, one of them being her grandmother. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, so she was placed in Shady Oaks Nursing Home with a lively roommate. What was this roommate's name?|
Gladys. During her trip, Jenna would pass through Texas, a place that Gladys loved. Before she left, Gladys asked her to bring back a piece of the sky for her!
|Elden, Mrs. Gladstone's son, wanted to take control of Gladstone's, but everyone was opposed to this. Elden would compromise Gladstone's quality to lower prices and sell more shoes. Mrs. Gladstone would not allow this, even though she is 72 years old. Elden does have some control of the company though; he hired Miles Wurlitzer, who is awful at shoe selling, to be a manager. In what city does Miles work?|
Peoria. At the beginning of the road trip, Jenna and Mrs. Gladstone suprise Miles by dropping in. When observing the store they only see one customer, who was being treated poorly by the salesman. This saddens Mrs. Gladstone, but she still goes on with her trip.
|The next state they drove through was Illinois. In the city of Springfield, Mrs. Gladstone and Jenna stayed in a hotel. Was the restaurant inside the hotel called El Pollo Loco?|

|In the Illinois branch of The Shoe Warehouse, another shoe company, Jenna goes in as a shoe spy for Mrs. Gladstone. While monitoring the salespeople, she notices that one of them treated a mother that was shopping for five children rudely. She stepped into offer her assistance in finding pairs of shoes for the children. One of the children wanted shoes that she could "run and jump" in. What was this child's name?|
Belinda. The other four children were: an older son, who bought high-tops, two older girls who purchased lower-cushioned heels, and Rodney, an eight-year old, who bought a black sneaker.
|In Chicago, Jenna meets Alice Lovett, a woman who wears a 5 and half size shoe. She also discovers Alice's former job (she's around seventy now). What is it?|
shoe model. Alice, as a retired shoe model, has a great fashion sense. After observing Jenna, she decided that Jenna should wear more green. When Jenna protested, she dragged her to the mall and bought her lots of green clothing and accessories. After that, she got many compliments about her appearance.

y. Madeline Gladstone's hip has been hurting her for a while. In Texas, she finally agreed to a wheelchair, even though she didn't want one!
|At the stockholder's meeting, Mrs. Gladstone reluctantly retires from her shoe company. How does Jenna react to this?|
jumps up and yells "no!". After her outburst, Jenna makes a touching speech about the quality of Gladstone's. In the end, Elden takes control of the company - but Mrs. Gladstone is the director of quality control. I hope you enjoyed my quiz!
