Fun Trivia: W : Warcraft 2

Special Sub-Topic: Story of "Warcraft" - Tides of Darkness

When "Warcraft 2" begins, which of these leaders was not part of the human alliance?

Anasterian Sunstrider. The elves were initially uninterested in the conflicts between humans and orcs. However, when the foundation of their own existance was threatened when the horde attacked Quel'thalas, their opinions had to change.

The horde had new allies as well. Which two races joined the orcish horde against the human alliance?
Trolls and Ogres. Contrary to popular belief, wolf raiders were NOT present in "Warcraft 2". When the horde was corrupted by Gul'dan, Durotan, who was the trainer of wolf raiders, was banished, and so, with him, his army of raiders as well. Trolls who had been defeated by elven and human armies in Quel'thalas before the arrival of the horde, and Ogres which are big brutes fit for melee combat allied themselves with the horde.

For whom did the dragons fight for - Horde or Alliance?
Horde. Although the dragons were noble creatures who were appointed to be the guardians of the world by the titans, they had no choice but to submit to the will of the orcs. This was mainly because, the orcs had somehow captured an ancient relic using which they enslaved Alexstrasza, the queen of dragons.

What made the horde lose its chance of victory?
Escape of Gul'dan. This is the first campaign in which Gul'dan is mentioned in "Warcraft 2". After Medivh's death, he had fallen into a coma. When he woke up, he found that the puppet chief who he had appointed to be overthrown by Doomhammer, who was by then, free from the demonic corruption. He promised to aid the horde under Doomhammer's leadership however. As part of his promise, he made some of the Ogres into Ogre Magi with magical powers and created deadly warriors from fallen human knights, and called them death knights. However, when nobody expected, he escaped with a large army in order to seek the tomb of Sargeras. We learn of his failure in this quest in "Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne".

Who destroyed the dark portal which connected Azeroth and Draenor in Azeroth side?
Turalyon. Lord Lothar fell in the battle around the blackrock spire. The first great victory of the alliance against the horde was not prevented because of this incident anyway, as Turalyon, who was Lothar's lieutenant, lead the alliance against the horde in the area near the very portal through which they had entered their lands.

Who convinced the alliance to build the fortress of Nethergarde that would watch over the ruins of the Dark Portal and ensure that there would be no further invasions from Draenor, and what was his profession?
Khadgar, Archmage. All four professions are those of heroes in "Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne". In fact, Uther is the only person who makes an appearance in both "Warcraft 2" and "Warcraft 3". Some may say Admiral Proudmoore appears in "Warcraft 3" too, but he never actually made an appearance in the second part. We only get to hear about him and control his navy.

Who leads the new horde after the old one had been defeated?
Ner'zul. The new Horde, led by veteran chieftains such as Grom Hellscream and Kilrogg Deadeye (of the Bleeding Hollow clan), surprised the Alliance defense forces and rampaged through the countryside. Under Ner'zhul's surgical command, the orcs quickly rounded up the artifacts that they needed and fled back to the safety of Draenor.

Who made the ultimate sacrifice by sealing the dark portal from Draenor thus ending the invasion of the orcs once and for all?
Turalyon and Khadgar. Though it would cost their lives, and the lives of their companions, Turalyon and Khadgar knew that it was the only way to ensure Azeroth's survival. Even as Hellscream and Deadeye hacked their way through the human ranks in a desperate bid for freedom, the Dark Portal exploded behind them. For them, and the remaining orcs on Azeroth, there would be no going back until Illidan opened the portal once again in "Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne".

Which clan was led by Ner'zul?
Shadowmoon. After the defeat of the horde at the hands of the alliance, Ner'zul created lots of portals to new worlds. This led to the destruction of Draenor itself. Ner'zul and his loyal Shadowmoon clan passed through the largest of the newly created portals, as massive volcanic eruptions began to break Draenor's continents apart. The burning seas rose up and roiled the shattered landscape as the tortured world was finally consumed in a massive, apocalyptic explosion.

Who killed Ner'zul?
Kil'jaedon. The portal which Ner'zul entered lead him to the twisting nether where Kil'jaedon who had sworn to kill him for his defiance, was waiting for him. He destroyed the shaman's physical form, leaving his soul intact to suffer. Little did he knew that Ner'zul will be the cause of the failure of the legion's invasion in "Warcraft 3 -Reign of Chaos"
