Fun Trivia: S : Snooker

Special Sub-Topic: The Game Of Snooker: Pt. 3

Last night I had a dream: I made a 155 break in the World Championship. When I woke up, I asked to myself: is this possible?

    y. Everyone knows (or should know) the maximum break in a game of snooker is 147 (15 times red + black and then all the colours). Nevertheless, in theory a maximum break of 155 CAN be achieved, allthough the odds are very very low. Suppose no ball has been potted and my opponent makes a foul shot on a red, leaving me snookered. I can elect a 'free ball', pot it (rewards 1 point, as if it were a red ball) and then pot the black ball (additional 7 points). After that I can make the total maximum clearance, worth 147 points. In total I would have made a break of 147+8= 155. Note: my total amount of points for that frame will be even higher, because I will receive first the penalty points from my opponent. I admit, it's unlikely, but it COULD happen {;-)}

In the 1972 World Championships, Alex Higgins did something no-one had done before. What was it?
he won the title at his first appearance.

    Paul Hunter.

The winner of the 2001 Benson and Hedges Masters made the highest break in the tournament, 136. Because another player equaled this break, they had to split the prize money in half. Who was this other player?
    Jimmy White.

Talking of high breaks. One player leads the field by a huge advantage when it comes to the total amount of +100 breaks in competition. He has over 500 of these breaks to his name, the number two has yet to reach the amount of 300. Who is this magnificent breakbuilder?
Stephen Hendry & Hendry. Well, he isn't 'the biggest player of all times' for nothing you know.

A red ball is never replaced after it has been pocketed.
    f. When a foul is committed and the referee has called a 'miss', the opponent has the option to put the referee to work and let him replace all balls in their previous position (even when the red ball had been mistakenly pocketed).

Who started the season 2001-2002 on the number 1 spot in the world rankings?
Mark Williams. John started number 2, Stephen number 3 and Ronnie number 4...

Nicknames: Who is 'the nugget'?
Steve Davis. Two less known nicknames for him are 'Ginger Magician' and 'Master Cueman'...

Trickshot time: at the World Trickshot Championship, you see a lot of players attempting a specific trickshot. I give you the description, you give me the name : 'all the reds are lined up diagonally across the table at the baulk end. The white ball is hit slowly towards the corner pocket and then the idea it to pot all the reds into the same pocket before the white goes down.' What do we call this shot?
machinegun shot & machinegun & machine gun & machine gun shot.

Which country is Quinten Hann from?
    Australia.
