    Influenza. Idaho at this time was still a rough place with thieves, murderers, bad men and even shootouts at the local saloon. His parents found this out and sent him to the Phillips Academy in Andover, MA.

Burroughs later attended the Michigan Military Academy, graduating in 1895. What did he do the following year?
    Joined the U.S. Army. ERB was assigned to the Seventh United States Cavalry, General Custer's old regiment.

In 1911, after reading several pulp magazines, Burroughs decided to start writing his own pulp stories. Which was the first novel he wrote published in pulp form?
    'Under the Moons of Mars'. Originally titled 'Dejah Thoris, Martian Princess', it was changed to 'Under the Moons of Mars' for the pulp version and finally, 'A Princess of Mars' in book form.

    It was incorporated. Starting out as a ranch ERB bought in 1919, the citizens of the community that had sprung up around the Tarzana ranch voted to adopt the name 'Tarzana' when their town was incorporated in 1928.

    True & t. At 66, being too old to see active service in World War 2, ERB served the war effort by becoming the oldest war correspondent to serve in the Pacific theater.
