At the beginning of the book, who is Mary watching being executed?

the Duke of Buckingham. The Duke of Buckingham is being executed for holding too large an army, for having too much royal blood, and for claiming the king was impotent. Mary believed he was going to be pardoned by the King, and was shocked when he was actually executed.

Where is Anne returning to England from?
France. Anne served as a member of the court in the Netherlands, and was then taken to serve in France. Mary was also a member of the French court and, in reality, was mistress to the King of France as well as to Henry VIII.

What is one of the measurements taken for Mary to become Henry VIII's mistress?
She must give up relations with her husband. The Boleyns knew that Mary must give up sexual relations with her husband in order for the king to know that any child conceived would be Henry's.

What are the names of the children Mary bore to Henry VIII?
Catherine and Henry. Mary wanted to name her daughter after the woman she admired most, Katherine of Aragon, the Queen. The second is, of course, named for his father, Henry VIII.

Was Anne's marriage to Henry Percy valid?
no. Even though they promised themselves to each other, and consummated the promise, it was not supported by either Wolsey or the king, and so it was declared invalid. Anne was banished from court and this later came to haunt her when she was trying to marry Henry VIII.

How many years did it take for Henry VIII to get his marriage to Katherine annulled and marry Anne?
seven. It was amazing that Anne could hold the attention of the king for so long without giving in to his demands.

Where does Mary go in the summer to visit her children, and who takes her there the most often?
Hever and William Stafford. It was on these trips to Hever that Mary and William began to fall in love, though Mary wouldn't admit it. It wasn't until they traveled to France with the court that she admitted it.

What did Anne do that broke her and Mary's relationship?
Anne claimed Mary's son Henry as her own. Anne wanted to have the one thing Henry VIII couldn't refuse, a son who had royal blood and Boleyn blood, and who better than Mary's son Henry?!

What were the charges brought against Anne?
Treason by adultery and incest. Anne was charged with incest with her brother George and adultery with him and four other men. These men were Sir William Brereton, Sir Francis Weston, Mark Smeaton and Sir Henry Norris.

Who was Anne Boleyn's child who would rule England?
Elizabeth. It's hard to believe that the lowly girl Henry didn't want and mistreated for most of the time Henry was alive would become the greatest ruler in English history. Elizabeth reigned for 45 years and brought peace to her country and made it one of the greatest nations on earth.
