Uncle. The Duke of Buckinghamshire was executed for saying the king could not provide a heir. Plus, the duke had a big claim to the throne.

How many ways has Buckingham offended the king? (According to Mary's father)
a dozen. In the book Mary recalls hearing that her father said her uncle had offended the king in a dozen ways: The duke had royal blood, a large retinue of guards for the king's discomfort, and was supposed to say that the king could not get a son for an heir.

Mary's sister, Anne, soon comes to court. Why does Anne come?
To serve the king's sister, Dowager Queen of France.. Mary's father says he shall go to get Anne in France. Mary was not pleased, for she felt Anne would outshine Mary once she came. The Dowager Queen of France is the king's sister, Mary Brandon; Mary Brandon's husband, Charles Brandon, is the Duke of Suffolk.

What is the first thing Anne says to Mary?
You're taller.. The first thing that came out of Anne's mouth was, "You're taller." Mary's response was,"Oh I've such high heels." The first thing Mary said to Anne, though, was, "Anne!"

Who participates in the masque with Mary and Anne?(which women)
the king's sister, the king's aunt, Jane Parker. Lettice Knolls was not born yet, Mary is her grandmother. Princess Mary was only six, the queen did not want to participate, and the Countess of Ormonode was Anne's supposed title, for her family planned to marry her to the Earl of Ormonode. Jane Parker was betrothed to Mary's brother, George.

What is the king's title in the masque?
King of Chateau Vert. Henry, of course, is the king. The plot of the masque is the Female Virtues - Kindness (Mary), Beauty (Dowager Queen), Perseverance( Anne), Constancy (Jane), and I don't know what the king's aunt's character was.

What shall Mary shower her husband in? (According to King Henry.)
sweets. Henry tells Mary this while they danced at the masque. It scared her because she had no idea how to respond. She was not good at flirting.

What made Mary's day at the joust so miserable?
The queen saw Mary's handkerchief fall from the king's armor.. Mary was upset because the queen discovered Mary had given the king Mary's favors (scarf or handkerchief) to ride with. Mary could not bear her mistress's anger.

What are the consequences of Mary telling the king she was upset?
Her uncle sends her home.. Mary's uncle, Duke of Norfolk, sends her home because she failed to enchant the king, and reprimands Henry.

What is Mary's home?
Hever Castle. Mary is sent to Hever in Kent. Her family does own Rochford Hall, but she doesn't go there until later in the book.
