This TV special was amazing to watch as actors and musicians gathered to pay tribute to those who died on September 11, 2001. The actors gave short speeches about the heroes - the firefighters, policemen and innocent civilians - who were there that day.

The various singers sang heart tugging songs to describe that day. Willie Nelson closed the show with a heartfelt rendition of "America the Beautiful" accompanied by all of the celebrities from the Los Angeles portion of the telecast. For security reasons, the exact locations where the telethon was being broadcast were not revealed.

After two hours on the air the telethon raised more than $200 million dollars.
