Why does Trance's appearance change from purple to human-like?

Tyr. She stops a bolt ment for Dylan, saying that it was her time, not his, and tells Trance her life is more precious now. Trance disagrees with this: "NO! All lives are the same."

Why does Trance take care of the organisms that Dylan is entrusted with?

Her sister said she was their only guide.. As she is who she is, of couse she knows what she's doing.
