In the Pacific what was the tactic used by tanks when engaging enemy infantry in close quarters in the jungle?
Spray each other with machine-gun fire. You may wonder why this was actually the tactic used. This is an effective strategy but causes useless casualties and the American tactic used to counter it worked quite well.

It was the hedge-cutting version. It was a field modification that was used shortly after the initial invasion of Normandy. It was used to cut though hedges in France. Otherwise the 'humps' created by hedgerows in Normandy often tilted tanks upwards, which exposed the vulnerable underside.
