Your journey starts in Scotland. You are in Inverness and, after an unsuccessful period looking for the Loch Ness Monster, you travel to Aberdeen. What direction are you travelling?

    South-East. Inverness is in the centre of North Scotland and Aberdeen is in the north-east of Scotland, so you would be travelling south-east. Aberdeen is famous for oil and granite. While in Aberdeen you could visit the Maritime Museum to learn about the wonders of the oil industry.

After spending a day in Aberdeen, you travel south-west to Glasgow. Who was the founder and patron saint of Glasgow?
    St Mungo. St Mungo was the patron saint of Glasgow. He also founded the city. St Mungo died in 614 after reports of performing four religious miracles.

After spending an hour looking at interesting vehicles in the transport museum in Glasgow, you travel east to Edinburgh. What could you not do in Edinburgh?
    Visit the Wallace Monument. The Wallace monument is near Stirling. The castle is, of course, Edinburgh Castle. The geography-based science centre is Dynamic Earth, a museum that shows the earth in the past, present, and future. The zoo is Edinburgh Zoo, which has over 1000 animals in it.

From Edinburgh you travel to Fort William. What direction are you travelling?
    North-West. Edinburgh is on the east coast of Scotland and Fort William is on the west coast of North Scotland. In Fort William, you can find a downhill mountain bike track and the highest point in the United Kingdom, Ben Nevis.

Now you are in England. After spending a few days at Center Parcs near Carlisle you go to Liverpool. What famous band originated from Liverpool?
    The Beatles. The members of the Beatles were all born in Liverpool and that is where the band originated. The Rolling Stones, Queen, and The Who all originated in London. The Beatles went on to become one of the most successful bands of all time.

From Liverpool you are going to Manchester. In Manchester you visit the football stadium called Old Trafford. Who plays at Old Trafford?
    Manchester United. Manchester United plays at Old Trafford. They are one of the most successful teams in the world thanks mainly to Sir Alex Ferguson, who was knighted for services to sport after he guided his team to the treble. Manchester City plays at the City Of Manchester Stadium. Manchester Town and Manchester Rovers don't exist.

From Manchester you are going to Birmingham. What direction are you travelling?
    South. Both of these cities are in the centre of England and Birmingham is south of Manchester. In Birmingham you could visit Birmingham Nature Centre or Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

Now from Birmingham you are going to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. What direction are you travelling?
    North-East. Birmingham is just about right in the centre of England and Newcastle-upon-Tyne is on the east coast of Northern England. Things to do in Newcastle-upon-Tyne include visiting the Hatton Art Gallery and the Sea Life Aquarium.

From Newcastle you are going to Cardiff. The motto of Cardiff is: "Y ddraig goch ddyry cychwyn". What does this mean in English?
    The red dragon will lead the way. "Y ddraig goch ddyry cychwyn" means "The red dragon will lead the way". "Wales Forever" is the motto of Wales and "Land of my Fathers" is the national anthem of Wales. "By Land and Sea" is the motto of Newport.

Finally, from Cardiff you are going to London. What direction are you travelling?
    East. Cardiff is in Wales and London is east of Cardiff, as it is in the centre of Southern England. From question one, if you followed this route, you would have travelled about 1256 miles (which is about 2021 kilometers)!
