Fun Trivia: N : Non-League Football

Special Sub-Topic: Welling United

Where was Welling United geographically in 2003?

South East London. Park View Road, Welling's small ground, is at the very North West point of Kent, though officially South East London.

During the mid 90s, Welling had on loan which giant, who had played Premiership football?
Daniele Dichio. Dichio played for Welling in 1994 against Slough Town, while he was on loan to The Wings from QPR. His impact was noticeable. He scored 4 goals on his debut in the 6-2 drubbing of Slough, all headers.

Which Premiership defender, centre of one of the many transfer sagas of the 2003 Summer, used to play for Welling in the Vauxhall Conference in the mid 1990s?
Steve Finnan. Indeed one didn't know it at the time, but we were watching a future Liverpool player in the making.

Which of these honors/trophies do Welling United have?
1985/86 Southern League Champions. Of course Welling couldn't have won the World Cup for it is not a country, and even if it was, it would most likely be more an Andorra than an England.

Which former Manchester United player in mid 2003, took over as manager at Welling United?
Paul Parker. Paul Parker was to be congratulated on two things, being Man Utd's only ever right back in the 90s apart from Gary Neville, and on scoring one of the most bizarre FA Cup goals. It was for United against either Reading or QPR (their colours are the same!). He scored what looked like a mis-hit cross. The crowd wasn't expecting it, the goalie wasn't expecting it, and Paul certainly wasn't expecting it, if his surprised grin was anything to go by.
