Dave Thomas. Dave Thomas opened his first Wendy's in Columbus, Ohio in 1969. Harlon Sanders founded Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Ray Kroc is associated with McDonalds. Wendy Williams was the only famous Wendy I could think of.

Dave Thomas' daughter Melinda. Melinda's siblings had trouble saying her name when they were young. It would come out Wenda, which eventually became Wendy.
