Fun Trivia : Quizzes : 'Star Trek' - Themed Quizzes : Starfleet Academy: Medical Doctor Exam

Introduction:
"How good of a Starfleet doctor are you? Choose what decision was made on the shows, not what you would do. (A question or two may be from the movies.)"

1. One of the officers has an alien lifeform that has attached itself to your patient. The alien is slowly killing your patient as it uses her body's systems to keep itself alive. You're thousands of lightyears away from help, what do you do?
Take a phaser and shoot the creature - hopefully you won't kill the patient in the process.
Create a holographic doctor of a mass murderer.
Sing opera to the alien to lull it to sleep and then carefully pry it off.
Who cares? You didn't need that officer anyway.

2. When the ship carrying the Chancellor of the Klingon Empire is damaged and the Chancellor himself is severely wounded, what do you do?
Send someone from your staff over - you may be needed aboard your ship.
    Nothing - you hate Klingons.
Beam aboard and see if you can help.
Beam aboard and tell the others what to do - you don't want to do anything wrong and get blamed.

3. One of your crewmembers is wounded and the only way to save him is to grow a clone, but the clone would have to die in order for you to save the crewmember. Do you make the clone or not?
Don't clone - it would be unethical to grow a being just to harvest a body part.
    Don't clone - It's too risky.
Clone - you always wanted to try this procedure and here's a good excuse.
Clone - the ship needs the crewmember.

4. The ship's counselor is being killed by a man who is using her as a 'receptacle' for his bad thoughts. What do you do?
Talk to the man and hopes he sees reason, if not - try to slow the aging process until he leaves the ship.
Kill the man who is using her.
"Kill" the counselor for a short time so the link may be broken.
Nothing - the counselor gave you bad advice a while ago and this is payback.

5. When the mother of one of the crew is going through a physiological phase and decides to marry the captain, what should you do?
Tell him! You don't want to get demoted for letting him be embarrassed.
Nothing - 'an animal is at his best when hunted'.
Nothing - 'sometimes you just need to let nature take its course.'
Sedate the mother and leave her in her quarters under armed guard - no sense taking any chances.

6. When confronted with multiple casualties aboard a ship, what is the general consensus of how you should proceed?
Triage - treat those who are worse off (but will live) first.
In order of rank - captain first.
Treat your friends first, then in order of rank.
In order of who you see first.

7. Your empathic friend just lost her empathic abilities. Although you will try your best to find out what's wrong and fix it, what advice do you give her?
Talk to someone with psychological training.
Talk to the captain and see how hard it is to transfer to another ship.
Go eat some chocolate and call in the morning.
Nothing - it's her problem to deal with.

8. Borg are attempting to enter sickbay! How do you create a diversion that would give everyone a headstart so they can try to outrun these creatures?
    Phaser the door shut.
Don't bother - resistance is futile anyway.
Tell the computer to randomly generate forcefields to slow them down.
Turn on the EMH - tell him to stall for time.

9. Your captain's extremely stressed, doesn't eat properly and doesn't sleep enough. And now she's complaining of these terrible headaches that won't go away. According to "Scientific Method," what is the best way to get her feeling more relaxed?
    Give her a massage.
    Give her a hypospray.
Nothing - she likes to complain anyway.
Tell her to take a shuttle to the nearest Class M planet - her condition's fatal.

10. Your captain is injured and needs to take time off to recuperate. Can you relieve your captain of duty?
    No - they outrank you.
Yes - in these cases, you can override the captain's decision.
Yes - a doctor is always right.
No - the captain will just relieve you of duty.
