Fun Trivia : Quizzes : United States : Rivers of the Southeast

Introduction:
"I will give a description of somewhere along each river and you will answer which river you think it is."

1. I begin at a confluence of the French Broad and Holston Rivers. I flow south through the mountains and then north, where I empty into another river. I am known for my series of locks and dams, also the numerous nuclear plants along my shores.
    Chattahoochee River
    Tennessee River
    Alabama River
    Pearl River River

2. I am probably the best known river in all of the United States. Many authors write about time they have spent along my banks and in my waters. I am very large, and considered by most the longest river in the U.S. The sediment I carry has created vast marshlands and wildlife habitats.
    Savannah River
    Cumberland River
    Mississippi River
    Tennessee River

3. I'm not as well known as my neighbor that is further south. I am about the same shape as it is, but on a much smaller scale. The largest city along my shoreline always has entertainment for me in the form of music.
    Cumberland River
    Potomac River
    Mississippi River
    Chattahoochee

4. I am probably one of the shortest rivers you'll ever see. The source of my water comes from the mighty Black Warrior, and I am about the same length as my twin. I form a fairly large delta with my sibling, and we, together, create a big marshland, full of waterfowl and wildlife. My life has been full of history. In 1703, my waters were discovered. They still reflect the sound of the first celebration of Mardi Gras.
    Rio Grande
    Holston River
    James River
    Mobile River

5. Along my route through the South, I see large cities, small towns, and major municipalities. I begin in a fast growing state, and make my way further south. I then form a border between my home state and its neighbor. Going down river, in my right ear, I hear WAR EAGLE!, and in my left cries of GO DAWGS! deafen me.
    Chattahoochee River
    Cumberland River
    Savannah River
    Mobile River

6. I am not very well known. But, the voices of my people keep me flowing. My name is not very recognizable, but, I contain a critical asset that allows people to trade with others. My waters come from many places, even other states. The Crimson Tradition lives on in my soul, though does not color it. My water does not resemble the color of my name, but, fights just as hard.
    Conecuh River
    Savannah River
    Black Warrior River
    Chattahoochee River

7. I find my source of water in the swamps of southern Georgia. I make my way through Florida, and empty into the Gulf of Mexico.
    Sewanee River
    Conecuh River
    Savannah River
    Cooper River

8. I'm famous for my high class rapids, and excellent scenic views. I have three reservoirs along my route, each one larger than the last. The largest city near me is Cleveland. I empty into the Tennessee River.
    Ocoee River
    James River
    Cumberland River
    Cooper River

9. I am named for my home state. The largest city of which sits on my banks. I empty into the Mississippi.

    Arkansas River
    Tennessee River
    Middle Alabama River

10. You can find my headwaters in the mountains of Northern Georgia and South Carolina. I flow past two metro areas of Georgia, and empty into the Atlantic near the city that bears my name.

    Mobile River
    Savannah River
