Catch22 Part 2 Milo game quiz
"Joseph Heller's modern classic "Catch-22" is a novel so rich with bizarre characters that it boggles the mind. Milo is among the zaniest of the lot. Hope you enjoy Part 2: Milo."

15 Points Per Correct Answer - No time limit

1. By the end of the book, Milo has gone from humble mess officer, to head of an air borne 'empire' he calls "M & M Enterprises". Do you remember what "M" and "M" stand for and why he chose the name?
The "M and M" stood for Meat and More. Milo chose these names because he wanted to improve the menu offerings in the squadron's mess hall.
Milo and Minderbinder equals Milo's name, Milo Minderbinder. Milo chose this name so that his business competition wouldn't think his operation was a one man act.
The initials stood for "Milo the Magnificent" as he was known by a civic leader in another town that supplied Milo with food imports.
"M & M" stood for Milo Minderbinder, Milo's name. The insertion of the "&" was merely a typo by Milo's clerk, ex-PFC Wintergreen.

2. Milo was the only man in the squadron brave enough to directly approach and question Major __________de Coverley. What did Milo shield himself with as he approached Major __________de Coverley while the Major was pitching horseshoes?
    His flak vest.
    A horseshoe.
    An egg.
    His clipboard.

3. Most readers of "Catch-22" would likely agree with me that the lead character in the book is Yossarian. All the main characters have one chapter titled for each of them except Yossarian and Milo. How many chapters are named after the two characters?
Milo, 3 chapters: "Milo", "Milo The Mayor", "Milo The Militant". Yossarian has just 2 chapters named after him: "Yossarian", and "Yo-Yo's Roomies".
Yossarian has only one chapter named for him simply titled, "Yossarian". Likewise for Milo, just the one chapter, named, "Milo".
Yossarian has 3 chapters named after him: "Yossarian", "Yo-Yo's Roomies", and "Yossarian Escapes". Milo has one chapter titled, "Milo".
Each character has the same number of chapters named after them: 2 each.

4. The complex wartime economics that Milo practiced are highlighted in one example among many. One general had craving for Polish sausage. Milo explained he could get the sausage from Cracow. But Cracow was behind enemy lines, so how could the general get his sausage? Just how did the "Polish sausage for peanuts" deal work?
The Polish sausage was sold to Milo by a German tank commander in Northern Italy. No peanuts were involved.
Milo substituted Spam for sausage and hoped the general wouldn't know the difference.
Milo swindled a pig farmer in Crete out of his pork by offering peanuts in exchange, then reneging on the deal.
Milo had peanuts from other deals flown to an international Polish sausage exchange in Geneva. There the peanuts are exchanged for the Polish sausage which are then flown to the general!

5. General Dreedle was the general with the craving for Polish sausage.
    True
    False

6. How did Milo's penchant for micro-managing M & M Enterprises finally get him in deep do-do?

7. One of the most ridiculous plans that Milo comes up with to dispose of his unwanted cotton crop is to make "chocolate covered cotton" and feed it to the men in the mess halls. He tries it out on one of the men. Who is the man, and what is he doing when Milo finds him?
Milo tried to persuade Hungry Joe to taste some, but Joe was too busy trying to shoot pictures up the nurses skirts at the hospital to bother sampling.
It is the Chaplain who is conducting a funeral service for one of the men killed in action.
It is Yossarian and he is sitting naked in a tree above a cemetery.
Milo found Orr, sitting on the floor of his tent, tinkering with tiny stove parts.

8. Whose funeral service was Yossarian sitting naked above in the tree, and how did he die?
It was Clevenger's funeral. We don't know how he died, he and his crew flew into a cloud and disappeared.
