Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" - Connie Booth, as the witch, may (or may not) have caused John Cleese (Peasant #3) to feel like something completely different. What did she (supposedly) turn him into?

Answer: A newt

He got better, though (of course, it's not like she had actually turned him into a newt, but I guess people will make up anything sometimes). She was finally determined to be a witch when it turned out that she weighed the same as a duck.
2. "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" - The Australian professors weren't quite so different after all, since they all shared the same first name. What was it?

Answer: Bruce

Professors Bruce were from the Philosophy Department at their university. They were there together to sing the Philosophers Song (and drink beer).
3. "Life of Brian" - Stan, of the People's Front of Judea, wanted to be quite different. What did he want to be?

Answer: A woman

He wanted to be called "Loretta" and have a baby. Reg was quick to point out that it wasn't quite possible, given that he didn't possess the necessary anatomy.
4. "Meaning of Life" - Death came and announced to the members of a dinner party that they were all dead. What killed them?

Answer: The salmon mousse

One of the guests protested that she didn't have any of the mousse, but it didn't seem to make a difference. She was dead anyway, and left with the rest for Heaven.
5. "Meaning of Life" - Perkins seemed to have lost his leg on military campaign in Africa. Ainsworth was under the impression that it may have been bitten off by a tiger. Was it?

Answer: No

The troops set off to search for the tiger (and the missing leg, of course) when they discovered that it was actually stolen by two lunatics dressed up as a tiger. Eric Idle and Michael Palin starred as the two lunatics in that particular skit.
6. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" - While trying to get into the castle where the French soldiers were, our heroes tried a turn on the old 'Trojan Horse' trick, only with a large wooden rabbit. What (else) was different about their rabbit that caused them to fail?

Answer: They weren't inside it.

Good thing they weren't inside it, since it got catapulted back outside the castle. It missed our heroes, but did land on one of their squires.
7. "Life of Brian" - During the Sermon On The Mount scene, Brian and his mother were too far away to hear clearly. What was the different message that one of the people near them reportedly heard? "Blessed are the _________".

Answer: Cheese makers

Blessed are the cheese makers indeed! Especially if it's a good Wensleydale. Also misheard was "Blessed are the Greek". Eventually Brian's mother grew bored and they left to go watch a stoning.
8. "Meaning of Life" - In the Crimson Permanent Assurance clip, what did the pirates use to fashion their swords?

Answer: Fan blades

I was especially fond of the coat tree grappling hooks, myself. Also of interest were the file cabinet cannons. Did you note that Matt Frewer (who played 'Max Headroom') was among the victims of their corporate pirate raid?
9. "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" - If you buy the albatross on a stick from John Cleese, do you get wafers with it?

Answer: No

No! You don't get bloody wafers with it! It's an ALBATROSS! Terry Gilliam bought one anyway, even without the wafers. This particular skit was first seen on the "Monty Python's Flying Circus" TV show in Great Britain.
10. "Jabberwocky" - OK, this one is a bit tricky. Terry Gilliam directed this movie starring a few of the Pythons, but was upset when it was marketed in America as "Monty Python's Jabberwocky" since he wanted it to be a solo project. This film was in part centered around the fate of a potato. Is all this true, or false?

Answer: True

The film's tagline was "Jabberwocky: the monster so horrible that people caught the plague to avoid it." I don't think the movie did very well at the box office, but I don't think anyone was out trying to catch the plague to avoid seeing it. The potato was used somewhat as a keepsake by the main protagonist after his love interest discarded it out the window.
