Knight, born on August 7, 1955 in Cartersville, Georgia, was cast to voice Tantor. Tantor was a friendly elephant and he befriended Tarzan when the latter was a young boy. Tantor also had a fear for many things, including germs and frightening noises. Unlike most elephants in the film, Tantor had a reddish skin complexion. Near the end of the film, Tantor and Terk looked on as it appeared as if Tarzan was bound for England via ship in order to be with people. Knight starred in the films "Basic Instinct", "Jurassic Park" and "Space Jam".

O'Donnell, a native of Commack, Long Island, New York, landed the role of voicing Terk. Terk was a feisty gorilla who often delivered wisecracks. Much like Tantor, Terk also befriended Tarzan when he was a young boy. In one scene, she watched as Tarzan grabbed an elephant's hair. Near the end of the film, Terk was upset when it looked like Tarzan was bound for England via a ship.

Linz, born in 1989 in Santa Barbara, California, got the role of voicing a young Tarzan. As a young boy, Tarzan was raised by Kala and they had a very close relationship. However, the same was not said of Kerchak since he felt Tarzan could never be like a gorilla.

In a nice scene, Tarzan said he did not resemble Kala but she told him that as long as he had a heart that did not matter. In a funny scene, Tarzan was shown with mud on his face. Tarzan tried to please Kerchak, which included activities where he swung from vines and didother stunts during the song "Son of Man" but none of these activities appeased Kerchak. Close, born on March 19, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut, voiced Kala. Kala was a gorilla and longed for a child. She rescued Tarzan when he was a baby and both his parents died. They bonded throughout the movie and it was evident there was a lot of love between them. Near the end of the movie, Clayton's men temporarily imprisoned Kala in a cage but Tarzan freed her. Kala was thrilled when Tarzan decided not to go to England and he remained in the jungle. Close landed roles in the movies "The Big Chill", "Fatal Attraction" and "The Natural".

In 1983, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for "The World According to Garp" but lost to Jessica Lange for "Tootsie".

Blessed, a native of Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, got the part of voicing Clayton. Clayton first appeared with a group of people who were from England and in the jungle to study the animals. He was a hunter and often had his gun with him. Midway through the movie, his intentions became clear when he revealed he wanted to capture the gorillas. Clayton and his men then locked Tarzan, Jane, Professor Porter and a few others in a room on the ship.

In the final confrontation with Tarzan, they fought as they hung onto vines and then Clayton fell to his death. Blessed guest starred on the TV series "Noel's House Party", "Henry 8.0" and "Minder".

Driver, born in 1970 in London, England, United Kingdom, was cast to voice Jane. Jane was seen in a yellow dress and had a journal, which she used as she drew pictures of animals which she came across. She encountered some animals that frightened her but Tarzan rescued her. Midway through the movie, she communicated with Tarzan and noticed he merely repeated words she uttered to him. Eventually, Tarzan regularly spoke and he fell in love with Jane. Hawthorne, born on April 5, 1929 in Coventry, England, United Kingdom, voiced Professor Porter. Professor Porter was part of the group who went to the jungle to study the animals. While there, Professor Porter bonded very well with his daughter, Jane.

He took a keen interest in the animals who he encountered there and he also found Tarzan to be a unique individual. In the final scene, Professor Porter and Jane were on a boat and heading to the ship bound for England. Professor Porter told Jane that he noticed she was in love with Tarzan.

This is when Professor Porter encouraged her to stay with Tarzan in the jungle. Hawthorne appeared in the films "Demolition Man", "The Chain" and "Gandhi". In 1995, Hawthorne obtained an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the movie "The Madness of King George", but lost to Tom Hanks for "Forrest Gump".

Henriksen, a native of New York City, lent his voice to the role of Kerchak. Kerchak was a grown gorilla who resented Tarzan since Tarzan thought he was a gorilla but was human. In one scene, Tarzan was a young boy and climbed a large hill and Kerchak peered at him with an ominous glare. Even after Tarzan saved Kerchak from death, he still disapproved of Tarzan.

Near the end of the movie, the group of people packed up the camp site for the return voyage to England and Jane told Tarzan he belonged with people.
