Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I was accused of having TOAD MORALS because while managing, I could always sniff out where the TV cameras were. I was the first National League manager to win two Manager of the Year awards, and with the same team that I helmed for over 20 seasons. As a pitcher I had OLD OAT ARMS and never won a game in my career. Who am I?

Answer: Tom Lasorda

Lasorda took over the reins of the Dodgers near the end of the 1976 season, and didn't let go until 1996. He won the inaugural Manager of the Year award in 1983 when the Dodgers won the NL West, and again in 1988 when he took the Dodgers to a World Series title. Tom was always known for playing the cameras when they were around.
2. I wasn't a BAKERY STUD, and I never led the league in any major category. Unfortunately, most of my seasons tasted like BAD TURKEYS. I did however, win the very first NLCS MVP that was presented in the 1970s. After playing for nine seasons with the Braves, I spent the rest of my 19 seasons in California. After retiring in 1986, I took the helm of another California team for 10 seasons. Who am I?

Answer: Dusty Baker

Baker played from 1968-1986. In addition to the Braves, he played eight seasons with the Dodgers, one with the Giants, and his final two with the Athletics. His NLCS MVP came in 1977 that saw the Dodgers defeat the Phillies. After managing the Giants, Dusty helmed the Cubs for four seasons, then moved to take the Reds in 2008.
3. In 2007, I became the fifth American Leaguer to win my third season MVP award, and the first to win three in over 40 years. I was accused of having a LAX DOZIER URGE because I didn't show much emotion. In 14 seasons I became a member of the 500 Home Run Club, and had GARIED ZERO LUX eyes because I could hit home runs at night even in the dark. Who am I?

Answer: Alex Rodriguez

After beginning his career with the Mariners for seven seasons, A-Rod played another three with the Rangers before wearing the pinstripes. His MVPs came in 2003, 2005, and 2007. The last American Leaguer to win three MVPs was Mickey Mantle, who won his third in 1962.

When Rodriguez won his third in 2007, he became the fifth AL player to do it. Others were Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and Mantle. Jimmie Foxx was the only non-Yankee to accomplish the feat.
4. With a LOWLY MOAN, I was the first St. Louis Cardinal to win a Rookie of the Year award. A MOLLY NOW, I went on to play seven more seasons with the Dodgers, and went to two World Series with them. I even had a World Series home run to my credit. Who was I that wore the Dodger Blue of number 9?

Answer: Wally Moon

Moon won the rookie award in 1954. Moon won the award over some big guns named Ernie Banks, Gene Conley, and Hank Aaron. After four more seasons in St. Louis, Wally was traded to the Dodgers. His World Series home run came against the White Sox in 1959. He won two series rings in his career.
5. Some said that I wore a DRAB LOONY uniform but I didn't care because I didn't have any ROYAL BOND. I just wanted to be the first Angel to win a season MVP, and I did. Do you remember who I am?

Answer: Don Baylor

In his 10th season in the big leagues, Baylor won the MVP after playing with the Orioles and Athletics in previous seasons. Answer: Pete Alexander

Pete's first two Triple Crowns came in 1915 and 1916, then again in 1920. The closest that he ever came to a MVP award was finishing third in his 1911 rookie season when he went 28-13. He was still an easy Hall of Fame inductee in 1938 with 373 wins to his credit.

Answer: Roy Sievers

Roy's rookie award came in 1949. He played for five seasons with the dismal St. Louis Browns, then eight seasons with the Senators. He was there with the Browns in 1951 to witness the Eddie Gaedel pinch-hitting fiasco. When Siever's hit 42 home runs in 1957, he led the league. Playing mostly with the Browns and Senators, he never saw a postseason game.
10. I would always lick my stamp and MAIL WISELY. I sometimes licked my glove too. I think this helped me to be the first outfielder to win 12 Gold Glove awards. Some might have called me YE ILL SWAMI because I had a bat too, and was the second player in history to hit 600 home runs. Who am I?
