At the age of 20 in 1929, Mel hit 42 big ones. Lynn never hit 40 homeruns in a season, having a high of 39 in 1979. Eddie Matthews hit 47 in 1953 at the age of 21. Griffey hit 40 homeruns at the age of 24 in the strike-shortened 1994 season.

Answer: 23

He was 23 and hit 44 dingers in 1957 with the Braves. Despite one setting the record for most homeruns in history, Aaron never hit more than 44 in a season, doing so three times (1957, 1963, 1966).
