Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Episode 4 saw Feras gain an advantage. Which of the following occurred first?

Answer: Feras found a hidden locked box near the Rebels' camp

Episode 4 opened with Kelli organising a game of Twister on the beach. We heard a confessional from Aileen for the first time and she surprised us as she explained that she thought she was going to be the leader and control and run the tribe. "I'm a force to be reckoned with," she says. (She was not the only one to say this exact phrase in this tribe.)

Feras rummaged around near camp and found his "Door to Narnia" - A locked box nearly covered with sand. It was locked but there was no key. After the Rebels won the reward challenge they won a grazing plate which was a picnic table filled with snack food. (If there was any doubt this was an Australian show, the presence of fairy bread at the picnic would close that argument.) There were three keys on the picnic table. They broke up into groups, each with a key, and went looking around their camp for something to open.

Later Feras taunted the Titans at the immunity challenge, asking them if they had "found their treasure box, yet?". Later in the challenge, Feras shared with Mark (of the Titans) that the box was real.

This cross-tribe chatter pre-merge has been a feature of "Australian Survivor". It acts to build relationships with the other tribe members. This becomes useful when the tribes merge.
2. Who caught Feras after the 'treasure box' was opened'?

Answer: Alex

Feras led Garrick and Raymond, both of whom he trusted, straight to the locked box. After unlocking it, the box contained an idol and a key to the other tribe's box. Feras slipped the idol to Garrick just as Alex, arrived suspicious of the activity. Feras confessed to finding the key but not the idol and offered to turn his pockets out as he did not have an idol (which was technically correct). Alex was not convinced. Sarah and Kelli arrived, with Kelli going back to the tribe to announce they had found something. Feras told the tribe about the key. Several Rebels peered at him suspiciously, so he offered to empty his bag and pockets. But Tobias said there was no need, as he added that they are finally united, and they don't need to be "un-united" now. (If you are a long-term fan, "Survivor" producers are quick to include words that come back to bite you later. This was one of those moments.)

Later, Alex interrogated Feras asking what else had he found in the box. Feras stuck to his story and did not tell Alex about his idol. Alex was not convinced. Feras now had a target on his back.
3. Aileen, quiet until this episode, announced herself as a strategic player by announcing what?

Answer: A plan to vote out Alex

Aileen devised a plan to eliminate the other major player in the "Cuddle Club" which, then, was down to three players: Sarah Tobias and Alex.

The plan involved all eight of the remaining Rebel Tribe, the so-called Oddballs (More of a loose affiliation, not a formal alliance). The plan was to put four girl's votes on Alex (herself, Kelli, Kirby, and Rianna) and the four guys' votes on Tobias (Feras, Garrick, Raymond, and Scott). With this plan, there would need to be a re-vote as it will be a 4-4 tie (with the three Cuddle Club votes irrelevant). As per "Survivor" rules, Alex and Tobias will not vote on the re-vote so the Oddballs are to vote the same as the first round, which will force Sarah to choose which one of the two Cuddle Club men goes home. Sarah would choose Tobias, her sleep partner, over Alex. Simple plan: Girls vote Alex twice, and Boys vote Tobias twice. Very clever plan.
4. The Rebels lost the fourth immunity challenge but had a plan to blindside a prominent player. The plan almost worked. Only one tribe member dissented from the agreed plan. Who was this?

Answer: Kelli

The Immunity challenge was a "Survivor" variant on dodgeball which the Rebels lost sending them to their second tribal council. But they had Aileen's plan...

Still, the Rebels needed to go into pre-TC scramble mode, except Tobias who squatted down by the fire and said, "Everyone go and have their chats, I'm making a fire, then dinner." He said he wasn't worried because everyone liked him. Alex and Sarah worked on Kirby and Rhianna counting on their votes to vote out Feras.

At Tribal Council, Feras was worried they would swing so after the votes were cast Feras took off his shirt revealing his idol from the treasure box. That negated Alex, Tobias, and Sarah's votes but there were only three votes for Feras. Kirby and Rhianna did not swing - they voted according to Aileen's plan.

Aileen's plan almost worked. She and Kirby had worked on Kelli to ensure that she stuck to the plan ("A is for Alex, B is for Blindside"). However, it needed all eight people to follow the plan: Girls on Alex, and boys on Tobias. Kelli reasoned she could work with Alex but she did not know Tobias well at all so she voted for Tobias. So there were five not four votes for Tobias, only three for Alex, and three for Feras which did not count. Tobias went home. Alex stayed. Kelli had wrecked the plan. Also, the problem, for Kelli, was that Alex did not like her and refused to work with her regardless. Kelli was part of an eight-person plan which she single-handedly thwarted meaning that now seven tribemates were mad at her. Sarah became upset when she realised Kelli had sent Tobias home and Alex did not want to work with her. Kelli's alliance partners were now numbered zero.

Four Tribal Councils so far, four blindsides. That has to be a record.
5. In episode 5, what was notable about the immunity challenge involving using puzzle planks to traverse an obstacle course before solving the puzzle?

Answer: Kelli volunteered for a key role but caused the Rebels to lose

In the fifth immunity challenge, Tribe members used puzzle planks to traverse an obstacle course, built a bridge to traverse, constructed a puzzle with the planks then knocked it down with sandbags.

Kelli volunteered for a key role but her ineptitude cost the Rebels the challenge and they were sent to Tribal Council. This time Garrick and Feras have had enough. They wanted her gone and it would be an easy vote. (What? No blindside, that would literally be a first this season.) - Kelli knew she was in trouble.
6. After the debacle of the Rebels' second Tribal Council, where the wrong person went home, Kirby needed a strategy for the next person to be voted out. Who did she target?

Answer: Feras

The two biggest strategic players on the Rebels did not trust one another: Feras did not trust Kirby as she reneged at the third Tribal Council and voted with the Cuddle Club to preserve agency with them. Kirby did not trust Feras as he did not disclose everything that he found in the treasure box (i.e., the idol). Both recognised that the other was very strategic but that was also the reason they wanted the other gone. Pity, as if the two could put their differences aside and work together, it would have been to their tribe's advantage.

Kirby counted on Kelli's support and brought in Alex, Rihanna, and Scott to give her five votes. Feras had Raymond and Garrick on his side which left Aileen and Sarah as the swing votes when they went into the immunity challenge, with Kirby set to spring the biggest blindside so far if they lost and went to Tribal Council. However, Alex told Feras of the plan in an effort to build trust with him. Feras plotted a counterattack, planning to take out Rihanna, Kirby's biggest ally.
7. As the resulting Tribal Council, it is clear that Kirby and Feras are gunning for each other. Who is eliminated?

Answer: No-one

It took a non-elimination to stop the fifth blindside vote in a row. JLP announced a non-elimination TC (by now, a tradition in "Australian Survivor") where the tribe would vote for one member to go over to the Titans tribe to sabotage their next immunity challenge. The deal was that if the 'saboteur' successfully sent the Titans to the next Tribal Council, they would rejoin the Rebels. If they failed, the saboteur will stay on the Titans.

The anticipated showdown between Kirby and Freas was put on ice, Kirby had a new problem: Feras wanted to go over to the other tribe but everyone knew he had a key to their treasure box. She whispered furiously to tribe mates saying Feras could not go.

Kelli was the obvious choice. She could sabotage the Titans' immunity challenge just by participating plus tribe mates would get a couple of days reprieve from her constant chatter. Kelli was not keen on going but the vote was unanimous. She was dispatched to the Titans' camp with instructions to keep them up all night.
8. Does the intelligence from the Rebels tribe, via Kelli, help the Titans tribe to find a hidden box?

Answer: Yes, Mark found it and eventually smashed it open

The previous episode was Rebels-heavy. Not much was shown of the Titans. Mark found the treasure box and shared this information with the two Vs. However, they couldn't open the locked box so they re-buried it. Very telling was that Mark did not share this information with his original alliance - The Middle-Aged Mafia (Mark, Kitty, Caroline and Eden). It is dangerous ground when a tribe member tries to manage two alliances by keeping them apart.

When Kelli started telling the Titans about Rebel secrets, Mark goes back to the box and smashes it open revealing an immunity idol. He shared the news with Valeria and Viola.
9. With Kelli being banished to the Titans' tribe did she sabotage their next immunity challenge as expected?

Answer: No, she volunteered to sit out the challenge

When Kelli arrived at the Titans' camp, she passed on valuable information and exaggerated her role in the Rebel tribe but sought very little information in return. Her story did not add up and the Titans saw through her. Eden correctly deduced she was a spy.

Meanwhile on the Rebels' tribe...
They enjoyed the quietness of a Kelli-free camp, especially Alex. They easily won the reward challenge. (The Titans had not won one at that point!) They enjoyed toasted cheese sandwiches (how Australian is that?) and coffee as well as photos from home which they shared. Feras slipped away with Raymond and he found another idol. He told Alex knowing Alex would broadcast the news around the tribe which he did.

Back to the crucial immunity challenge and incredibly Kelli volunteered to sit out the challenge thereby eliminating any chance of sabotaging it. The Rebels were shocked at this betrayal. (Author's note. It is possible that Kelli knew she would not last much longer on the Rebels' tribe so she could have a fresh start on the Titans' tribe if the Titans won immunity. We never did find out her reasons for sitting out.) However, with irony, the Rebels won immunity without any input from Kelli. Titans were sent to Tribal Council.
10. In episode 6, we saw a new issue arise that caused a Titan to be eliminated which was?

Answer: Unequal food sharing arangements

The Titans had not won a reward challenge so all they had to eat was rice and beans supplemented with coconut. Caroline was concerned they were consuming the rice and beans too fast and they would run out. She was especially concerned that Nathan was taking more than his fair share to the point that he must go for the good of the rest of the tribe.

Nathan had some awareness he was on the nose with the tribe. He was perhaps the only Titan who welcomed Kelli as he believed she would be voted out before him. Nathan had impressive physical strength and some social skills but he was also aware that he had no strategic game.

At Tribal, JLP explained Kelli's transfer to the Titans and then sent Kelli back to the Rebels before Tribal progressed any further. Caroline had engineered a plan to split the votes between Nathan and Jaden in case Nathan had an idol. Of some concern was that Jaden (whose game appears to be - go along with the majority as long as it wasn't him - The Sandra Twine strategy perhaps?) showed no concern when he was told to vote out his closest ally Nathan. He did himself no favours at TC when he declared he had forgotten who to vote for. Wina had a similar reaction though his relationship with Nathan was not as strong. Mark threw a spanner in the works by mentioning Caroline's name thereby admitting his alliance with the Middle-Aged Mafia was tenuous at best and he demonstrated his alliance with the two Vs was more important.

Caroline's plan held fast with a 6-3-1 vote between Nathan, Jaden, and Caroline. Nathan was the fifth person voted off "Australian Survivor" and the first not to be blind-sided.
