Thomas Andrews was the ship's designer and was lost in the disaster. William James Pirrie was chairman of Harland & Wolff and was unable to make the voyage due to health issues. J. Pierpont Morgan controlled the International Mercantile Marine Company, parent company of the White Star Line, and cancelled his booking at the last moment.
2. Which first class passenger fell down the stairs and broke her arm?

Answer: René Harris

Just before dinner on April 14th, René Harris was walking down the stairs to her stateroom, C-83, near the aft grand staircase, when she slipped on what she believed was a spot of grease left from a dropped tea cake. She stated that she "took a header down six or seven steps" and broke her right arm at the elbow.

The Countess of Rothes, Margaret Brown and Helen Churchill Candee were also first class passengers and all survived.

Answer: Lucy Duff Gordon

Lucy Duff Gordon (Lady Duff Gordon) owned couture houses in London, New York and Paris (and later in Chicago). Edith Rosenbaum, Madeleine Astor and Lucile Carter were also first class passengers and all survived.

Leah Aks, Emily Goldsmith and Luise Kink were also third class passengers and all survived.

Answer: Dorothy Gibson

Dorothy Gibson was a model and one of the first movie stars. She was under contract to Eclair studios and starred in "Saved from the Titanic" which was the first dramatization of the disaster. It is now considered a lost film since no copies are known to exist. Gladys Cherry, Emma Bucknell and Marie Young were also first class passengers and all survived.

Arthur Peuchen survived the sinking in Lifeboat 6. Archibald Gracie survived on upturned collapsible B. Archibald Butt and Henry B. Harris were lost.
