Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Reggie the Movie", what was the name of Sherry's older brother?

Answer: Kent

Reggie was visibly nervous even before she went and saw "Sharkenstein's Revenge". Sherry's brother even noticed how pale she looked. Reggie's low tolerance of scary movies must reflect her dad--in this episode, we learn that Ray Rocket has had a fear of poodles ever since seeing 'Attack of the 50-foot Poodles'.
2. In "Merv Links to Otto", what is the inscription on Mr. Stimpleton's license plate?

Answer: IV

The inscription is interesting. Either "IV" stands for the Roman numeral, meaning that the number 4 has some significance in his life, or it refers to the IV used in hospitals. Given Merv's age, either one may be valid.
3. In "Big Air", Sam moons the gang as he is in a hospital gown and is bending over to pick up his clothing when Ray and the others enter the room.

Answer: True

Hospital gowns usually do not cover the entire body in case of an emergency (so staff can easily and quickly perform any necessary procedures). I'd hate to think what Reggie thought of that sight when she walked in the door behind Ray. As Otto mentioned when his baby picture was published in 'Reggie's 'Zine', she saw a side of Sam that people usually don't see.
4. When the gang finds the motorized skateboard in "Losers Weepers", where does Twister try to secretly ride it?

Answer: the boardwalk

Otto rode it in Madtown, Reggie rode it around the neighborhood, and Sam rode it in the woods. Even though Otto is the daredevil, Sam has made more trips to the hospital than anyone else. He hurt himself in "Womp Race 2000" when riding down the California Incline, had an asthma attack in "Big Air", and then broke his arm in this episode, requiring an ambulance ride.
5. When Sam attempts his Evel Knievel stunt at Madtown (in "Sammy's Fortune"), what is he wearing?

Answer: an Elvis suit

His stunts were very unrealistic. For example, when he stumbles on the skateboard, he is able to maintain control and balance through the crowded boardwalk, in to Madtown, over a woman and her baby carriage (although why was that in a skatepark?), on the halfpipe, and (after flying off the top of the halfpipe), safely in to the blader bowl. Talk about "Do not try this at home."
6. Where does Breezy take the gang to try out her new equipment during "Summer Breezy"?

Answer: Lake Havasu

Breezy was glad she had the gang put her new equipment through such rigorous use as all of it was faulty. She was then able to avoid selling defective goods. By the way, notice how Twister acts towards Breezy at the beginning of the episode. When Otto and the others comment about her surfing, Twister, in a goofy voice, re-introduces himself to Breezy.

It seems he is romantically attracted to Breezy. Guess he's starting to look at girls.
7. In "Sammy's Fortune", what does Sam call Reggie when she questions his invincibility?

Answer: girlfriend

This is probably the last thing one would expect Sam to say. When she questions him, he takes his glasses off, looks at them, and says "Talk to the smudge, girlfriend". Reggie is completely shocked by his response. However, given the fact that Sam and Reggie are good friends (and the fact that many viewers are wondering if anyone has a crush on Reggie), it would not surprise me if Sam meant to call her girlfriend.

In fact, Reggie and Sam are featured together quite frequently in this series of episodes.

She hits Sam with a snowball in "Missile Crisis", although he was the only one who hadn't aimed for her, and is very concerned when Sam tries to surf the big wave in "Sammy's Fortune".
8. When the gang tries to find out where they can turn in the skateboard in "Losers Weepers", Otto hints that they were dropping off stolen merchandise.

Answer: False

Twister doesn't think sometimes (either that or he sometimes suffers from short-term memory loss). Twister asks if a nearby skate shop carries the motorized skateboard. That is all he is supposed to do, but for some reason, he tells them what they are going to do. Plus he gives them his name.
9. In "Twist of Fate", what does Twister use to find help?

Answer: quartz rock

The quartz rock (encased in granite) that Twister found allowed him to create a mirror-like reflection of the setting sun, allowing Tito and Ray to see where the kids were situated.
10. In "Falsely Alarmed", which of the following is NOT part of Lars' punishment?

Answer: working at the fire station

A lot of people can't believe how stupid Otto and Twister were when they pulled that alarm. How could they think that a fire alarm would only work when there was a fire? While Lars' punishment may have been a bit of retribution for his past injustices against the gang, the punishment wasn't for those but was for something that he didn't do.
11. At the Extreme Sports Convention in "Merv Links to Otto", which of the following exhibits do Reggie, Sam, and Twister not try?

Answer: climbing wall

The climbing wall was featured in the episode but was not used by any of the characters. Poor Ray, on the other hand, never got a chance to try anything as his attempts to find the kids kept leading him to the exit door.
12. Which of the following does not make Reggie think about the Sharkenstein movie (from "Reggie the Movie")?

Answer: the surfboard table with a shark bite

The movie that Reggie saw, "Sharkenstein's Revenge", involved a mechanical shark that could show up virtually anywhere, even in an individual's bath tub or pool! The movie, like the others the Rockets have seen on the show, was sarcastically lame. In this case, one surfer showed no emotion when she saw a mysterious object in the water--it looked so unrealistic.

They even called the movie 'fun for the whole family!'
13. What does Reggie do to Sam after she meets Missy Giove in "Missile Crisis"?

Answer: dunks him in the hot tub

Missy definitely got to Reggie's head. Not only did Reggie dunk her best (male) friend, but she also jumped out and made a snow angel--in her surf attire! Note that the nickname Missy gave her, 'Reggie the Rocket', has been used before: the volleyball coach in "Reggie's Choice" also called her that when he signed her up for the all-state team. Also, Reggie seems to be all over Sam in this episode.

Not only does she dunk him in the hot tub, but hits him with a snowball in the beginning although the other two had thrown snowballs at her first.
14. In "Falsely Alarmed", what does the viewer see in the background while the gang is eating in the Shore Shack?

Answer: a man chasing an animal balloon

The animators at Klasky-Csupo have been creative in adding humor to "Rocket Power". In fact, all of the answer choices have been seen in the background. They're kind of like "hidden humor", as one must not be entirely focused on the main action in the scene.
15. How much does Reggie offer the fortune teller in order to convince her to stop Sam's impending stunt in "Sammy's Fortune"?

Answer: 42 cents and a gumball

I think the fortune teller realized her potential liability since she had falsely convinced Sam that he was invincible. However, for some reason, she wouldn't move until Reggie made the offer. Personally, I think averting a lawsuit is better than making 42 cents more. By the way, sorry about all the Sam questions. There's just a lot that happens to him in these episodes.
16. In "Twist of Fate", which of the following animals was not visually featured in a clip from 'Gung-Ho Gopher'?

Answer: Bonehead Beaver

While Twister still liked the children's cartoon, the rest of the gang seemed to have grown out of liking it. However, Otto did sound surprised and somewhat saddened when Twister told him how the goat had gotten lost in the forest. Even Tito remembers what the gopher said about rescuing someone who was drowning.

There was a mention of the "Island of the Bonehead Beavers" but we never actually saw them on TV.
17. In relation to question #16, what classic cartoon character did Ding-a-Ling Duck represent? In other words, the duck could be considered a parody of which of the following?

Answer: George of the Jungle

Just like George's trademark maneuver, the duck swings from a vine, yells, and crashes right in to a tree.
18. In "Summer Breezy", which of the following does the gang not try out?

Answer: skim board

All of the correct answers are freshwater sports equipment. In fact, the air chair is a unique product that is actually manufactured in Lake Havasu (where Breezy takes the gang to try out the equipment).
19. In the arcade scene of "Big Air", what was the last arcade game seen before the scene changed?

Answer: A monkey throwing pies at Abe Lincoln

Surprisingly, Otto and Twister don't like video games. Of course, it's better to do things in person rather than on a simulator; however, one must wonder why they have never used video games, especially when it rains.
20. Keeping in mind that the episode "Twist of Fate" takes place at the end of a school year, what grade will Sam and Reggie be going in to the following fall (HINT: They are one year older than Otto and Twister, who announce in the episode which grade they have just finished)?

Answer: 8th

They are all entering junior high school given that Otto and Twister just finished 6th grade and will be in 7th grade (Reggie and Sam should already be there since they will be in 8th grade). Surprisingly, they don't look any older than they did when the series began. It would be nice if they would show some age and look like actual teenagers.
