Their first ice cream shop was in Burlington, in an old gas station. I remember going in there on one of my first visits to Vermont. Then they decided to package pints of this wonderful dessert in another site in Burlington. Mom and pop shops were delighted to be able to sell this treat that Jerry delivered himself. Many years later they opened a factory in Waterbury and began their factory tours.

The Rosedale company changed its name to Cabot sometime in the 1980s. One of the best things about Cabot cheese is that most of the products are free of lactose.
