Fun Trivia
Upton Sinclair is perhaps best known for his famous muck-raking novels. "The Jungle", published in 1906, exposed conditions in the meatpacking industry and the ensuing public outcry helped spur the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act. "The Brass Check" (1919), which described some ways in which yellow journalism transgressed societal values, was partly responsible for the development of a code of ethics for journalists. Other books explored other aspects of the developing industrial society in the early 20th century.
