Judge Whopper was married to his wife for 25 years. He felt that Jack and Joy were making a mockery of marriage. He sentenced them to living together for six months before they could get the three million dollar prize they won in Las Vegas. He also told them they were required to seek marriage counselling.

"We Are The Champions" by Queen (sung by the late great Freddie Mercury) could be heard as they held up their giant cheque. "We Are The Champions" was a great song to play because both Jack and Joy won this prize. "Grace Kelly" was sung by Mika during the opening credits. "Flashdance What A Feeling" was sung by Irene Cara during a tender moment where Joy and Jack actually talked to each other. "It's Alright", by Asa Semple, was played during the funniest part of the movie. You could hear it when Chong (Joy's work nemesis) tried to open a champagne bottle with a knife, failing terribly.

Dr. Twitchell was Jack and Joy's court appointed marriage counsellor. She refused to fall for any of the tricks that they attempted, to influence the final evaluation that she had to give to the court. In her final evaluation she described Jack and Joy as being perfect for each other.
