In the remake of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", made in 2003, Leather-face's name was Thomas Hewitt. People tell me that he was a real person. He's not. Leather-face was based loosely on Ed Gein. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was not a true story. I have the DVD of the remake, and the director on the bonus features said he wasn't a real person. So, sorry for the confusion.
