The lead singer of the Stereophonics grew up on the same street as the band's original drummer, Stuart Cable, in the village of Cwmaman in Wales, and the two founded the band which would become known as the Stereophonics. In 2010, Cable sadly passed away at the age of 40, but the band continued in spite the loss of their friend.

As well as being a gifted singer, Kelly also plays the guitar and is an all-round charming guy, as comes across in his many interviews.
