| The Dodger franchise began life in the big leagues in 1884 as the Brooklyn Atlantics in the American Association. They joined the National League in 1890 as the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. After many name changes, the club won their first-ever World Series in 1955 after many prior appearances. The franchise moved out west to Los Angeles in 1958 and became the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 1959, the Dodgers won another World Series, and would go on to win more in 1963 and 1965.
